amnstypls
i only did one trade, and the way we worked it out was I paypal'd him cash, he sent the record. I sent mine, he paypal'd me back the cash. pretty fool proof there.

I sent mine, he paypal'd me back the cash. pretty fool proof there. Interesting. So you pay for goods and after the transaction is complete he refunds the money so no fees are due. And if for some reason he did not refund you still have the option to make a paypal claim. Clever So as long as the records and money transferred are of equal value, both are covered. Is that the way it works?

jerseydave77
There could also be a system set up where the board has a couple reliable and reputable members act as go betweens. Something where each member has to deposit money to a member of a Trade Council of sorts. Once both items are received the deposits are returned. A system that can help eliminate the risk. We've seen a lot of shitty trade stories on here so I think this would be an interesting concept to explore.

somethingvinyl
Jerseydave had a great idea. Bummed about shitty experiences. I just wanted to add that I've been on VC and DF for two years and I've had nearly 100 transactions with only minimal hiccups.

maneatingcow
I hate for my very first post on this site to be complaining about a terrible seller, but it appears I won't be the first to get burned by this guy. for what its worth, I'm being totally boned out of $74.00 from damianzamora on discogs. http://www.discogs.c...er/damianzamora Like the others that are now posting negative feedback (and the other guy to mention him on this thread), I bought two copies of a Thrice album from him, paid literally 5 minutes after buying them, he responded with the word "deal" and now refuses to read or respond to PMs, won't respond to emails, hasn't shipped the item, and is apparently going to make us all have to file claims through paypal. i have no idea what this guy's problem is but he's fortunately the first person in the vinyl trading/selling community to be that crappy to me. As somewhat of a newbie to this all, I hope he's one of the only ones I encounter. Please, unless you have money to throw away, avoid this guy at all costs. Lesson learned. EDIT: forgot to mention that this went down on Sept. 15th, which is roughly when he stopped shipping anything he's sold on there, based on the feedback. According to this site, he was still posting on the 19th though. Just saw this, sorry to hear about your issues with Damian. I feel bad I went back and deleted my posts referencing my poor transaction with him. To be fair after 4 months I did get my record. Looks like he's just screwing a ton of people over now. Glad your able to get a refund through Paypal. My transaction with him has made me stop buying / trading things on these boards.
agaetisbyrjun
aregular Bought some albums off of him at the end of Sept. Paid on the 29th. He messaged me on Oct 4th and said he was not ripping me off, was just out of mailers and would make one the next day if need be. Haven't heard from him (or received my records) since. (He hasn't logged on VC since then either). Sent him multiple emails as well with no response, and finally filed a claim through Amazon Payments. They informed me to file a chargeback with the issuing bank, which I have done :edit: No sooner do I file the chargeback and post this, I get an apology email and promise to mail the albums tomorrow. Keeping this posted (and the claims open) until I have the albums in hand though
dreamwolf
I recommend avoiding this user on eBay: "http://myworld.ebay.com/dear.vinyl.its.over.ttyl/&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2754" dear.vinyl.its.over.ttyl << AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE This user is knit picking their items. Although the listings are exotic they are ending the items early if they don't like the price it's going for. A waste of time! I couldn't imagine if they weren't paying attention and a collection was sold for cheap. This user most likely wouldn't send it and claim it got lost in mail. Horrible eBayer! Just this weekend they literally had up to 25 collections for sale and they were all really nice collections. This morning all gone. And I witnessed them end some early. Now I can sympathize with maybe 1 or 2 ending early. But 4?! Let alone ALL?! What a jerk.
timay
http://vinylcollecti...viewprofile&u=1 [email protected] James Greenlaw Jr 12014 Woodridge Road Sandy, UT 84094 United States http://www.facebook.com/jgreenlawjr http://myworld.ebay.com/jgreenlawjr http://www.deadforma...awjr&view=haves (swear he had a list, now it's empty) this was quoted from back on page 18. figured i would update with some new info on this guy since he was posted in this thread as a scammer. thought people would be interested to know his whereabouts and activity as of late. he has since moved and is using either a relatives, wife/girl friend's name and ebay and paypal accounts. but he still ives in Utah. the ebay username he is using or has access to in some form is stegobot http://myworld.ebay....sid=p4340.l2559 right he he is flipping almost everything blink 182 related. plus this ebay account has been registered sine 2008, but only has a feedback rating of 12. by looking at the feedback he has spurts on activity followed by in some instances over a year, or even two years of inactivity. so most likely he has multiple ebay accounts, and stops using one after a round of scams and moves on to the next one. here is he new address and names he is using or has relation to, same adddress for both names: James Greenlaw Jr. Crystal Greenlaw 1417 S 465 W Orem, UT 84058-7389 email = [email protected] i won something from him on ebay, luckily it came, but after opening it up he re-used on old mailer that had James Greenlaw Jr. as the original recepient with that address listed above. had i known it was him from the beginning i would not have even bid on the auction. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM guest this bitch is trying to cheat me out of $80 and has tried to cheat others out of money as well. I have linked all information to the quoted person above. I wish I had done more research before sending money. Here is more information I dug up: http://deadformat.net/tradelist/guest http://twitter.com/#.../Stegosaurusrx/ http://www.facebook.com/cgreenlaw She has ignored all messages on VC, eBay, twitter, DF, and facebook. Unfortunately for me, I sent her money via gift seeing as she has a pretty decent reputation and amount of posts on VC. If there is anyone that can assist me in how to get money refunded that was sent as a gift please enlighten me. Also, what action you all recommend in reporting these two scamming mormons from Utah? drds89
DO NOT FEED!!!!! uh oh, oh no. won something on ebay recently from them. they printed a label and waited 10 days, before I PM'ed and they have shipped something, we'll see what arrives? Will be bummed as I had an opportunity on the same variant for same price recently and passed assuming this record is 'on the way.'.... yep, it's "vinyldream" here, because i noticed they had the same stuff listed for sale, made offers here, & no reply; then the same albums turn up on ebaY for sale the next week.... Wondered if shilling on some of the auctions, esp. a Junius S/T tour copy, signed by the band, which closed > $100. I did not 'win' that one thankfully... Will keep posted: oy vay... nice Monday surprise
