My constructive answer to the question is much less than I'd like. In college I was able to basically have a record spinning if I was awake and not in class (I worked remote in Silicon Valley all through college). Nowadays, even though I still work from home my real job requires a bit more concentration and I generally find myself just letting Spotify play in the background so there's noise in my office.

I have bought my daughter a few records (mostly the RSD Baby Shark stuff and Disney soundtracks), those get the most playtime. Occasionally I'll prop up on the couch with a bourbon and listen to something not aimed at the average three-year-old, but getting old sucks and there aren't enough hours in the day to do that more than once or twice a month.

As often as I can, but it's not as much as I'd like to. Two young children make doing anything difficult if it's not their idea 😂
There are lots of knowledgeable people here, but most of us are grumpy and/ or sarcastic. Don't take it personally.

    NEVER STOP BEING A WEIRDO!!!

I keep all the original packaging unless it's damaged for some reason.  records go in new inner sleeves and jacket goes in new outer sleeve.

just imagine 50 years from now when some collector is going through your collection and they're like wow...nice collection but I can't believe he threw away all the original record paper sleeves.  trees don't exist anymore and those sleeves are irreplaceable.

I was definitely entertaining that possibility as well, but also noticed that he has no real interest posting in any other thread – which, to be fair, are wildly out of his demographic – and seems to have a sassy response to every reply.  I understand firing back at the trolls having their fun, but he's been a lil' bitch to even the neutral responses that are politely entertaining his threads that he keeps bumping.  I'm all for some newbie leniency but this guy just sucks. 🤷‍♂️

These posts actually bust up the monotony in here and bring out the best in us. The termite poop thread is dying off. I have more confidence the op has more tenacity to keep this one going

Do what you wish, but FYI you can download backups of your collection on Discogs:
    https://www.discogs.com/users/export?w=collection
It would also be a service to the community to add missing items to Discogs.

Nope.  The Ron Desantis Act says you can't talk about this until after the 12th grade.  This is clearly a Middle School issue.

I'm curious why you would choose to use MS Access rather than just entering your collection in Discogs, where it's associated with marketplace data and more portable.

Oh man. I'm going to exercise some restraint here, but the truly tempting part is the inclusion of those fantastic demos I used to stream on repeat on PureVolume back in 2006. Wonder if any of the extra material will get a digital release.

Hi everyone - you probably remember my original posts about our ambition to build a new app for record lovers.
We just launch a daily giveaway. How does it work?
Every evening, we invite a record collector, artist, label boss or record store owner to showcase for 2 minutes (with timer!) a record they like and share their musical journey. At the end of the 2 minutes, a winner is randomly drawn and will receive a copy of the record presented. See how it looks:

The feedbacks are excellent and people are already hooked: short format, captive and engaged audience, cool way to discover new music in an authentic way and "dopamine shoot" at the end with the draw.
What are your thoughts? What could be improved? Do you like the "gamification" aspect? (It's completely free)
(Let me know in DM if you want access)
