I thought this was coming out April 1st? I just picked up a Loser Edition at a local shop. They were sold out online as of two days ago. Comes In a die-cut sleeve.

(sorry for the sideways pics, I uploaded to tinypics from my phone and they showed up straight when I posted. Now they're sideways on my laptop.)

The whole site (Gohastings) is 16% off with "SWEET16". Or so the email they sent me says. I have not tried it.

    Hahaha.
It's like Netflix if all I could do is say, "I'd like to watch something funny," and then some random jackass picked something they think is funny and sent me that to watch, rather than streaming exactly what I'm looking for.

I've heard $200 a month as a baseline a couple of times and that seems to work well.
Also take into account the 50/30/20 rule. 50% of your monthly income should go to essentials (rent/mortgage/groceries). 30% should go towards lifestyle expenses (vinyl/nights out/beer). 20% should go towards debt/retirement/savings.
You can use that as a baseline, plus your numbers in and see where you fall. Bend the numbers around that 30% as much as you can

Just dug up this old thread as I'm looking at setting vinyl budget myself. Or, should I say as in the OP, my girlfriend/domestic-partner/might-as-well-be-wife is suggesting it. We've had "the vinyl talk" several times, especially when she went back to school last fall and is now looking for a job, but the budget word had not come up until yesterday. I had thought about it myself, as I just tend to spend whatever is available until I feel I'm overdoing it, but hadn't thought about a number to try to stick to. As we all know, you can never predict how many albums you'll want to buy in a month - new or old, or how much they'll cost and how many you'll be able to get for a certain monthly amount. But hey, that's the point of a budget, to make you think harder about purchases and control the habit.

Anyhow, as we were talking she threw out the question "given 2 seconds to answer, what's your first guess as to a reasonable monthly budget?" to which I quickly replied $200! That was a lot. She suggested maybe $100, or 4 albums per month. Right away I thought about OOP purchases and shipping, which could easily turn that $100 into just 2 albums. But when thinking about 4 albums per month, it's really not that bad. One per week. Sounds reasonable. But what do I currently spend? I don't have an accurate number, but I'm sure it's upwards of 8 per month with varying cost. Likely $200-300.

It needs to get under control, for sure. I'm just scared of putting a number on it. Also I'm tired of smuggling records into the house.    I've had 3 sitting on my desk at work for a week and just put 3 more there. I'll be able to bring all 6 home tomorrow when she's out of town for a week.

Oh look, another guy with Kallax/Expedit shelves! I finally got some new ones and consolidated all the records in the house. Planning to put some of those doors in the two empty cubes. That is, until I run out of space and need to invade those cubes. Installed the floating shelves and painted the mantle white this weekend too - little makeover on that side of the living room.

My friend has a ridiculously expensive tube amp/receiver setup with a $2000 record player at his place (he and his father are adult children with way too much $$$) I don't remember the brands but I know the amp was like a piece of fine art & I was nervous getting too close to it.

He bought all of the Capitol "From the Vault" Radiohead vinyl, so we decided to do some comparisons. My new HTTF "le chien" that I recently mentioned versus his Capitol Vault series were both very good, but more dynamic range & general warmth from the Parlophone. Also a bit quieter overall. Capitol was still pretty decent. OK Computer, Kid A & especially Amnesiac all sounded like dogshit on Capitol against my Parlophones.

We both have the In Rainbows discbox & KoL newspaper and those probably sounded the best of everything, aside from Parlophone Amnesiac. "Feral" especially on the clear vinyl was beyond spooky & great. We went back & did that song 3 times in a row because it was so incredible.

I know I'm not breaking any new news with that, just thought I'd report. I'm very happy with my decision to seek out the old Parlophones. HTTF was the only one I've paid more than $30 for (bought Ok Computer at Amoeba Berkeley in 1999 or 2000)

Pointless variations of albums that already exist. There are like 250 versions of Paranoid on discogs  Cool, a drink recipe, can't get those anywhere. Wow 150g vinyl. Why do they even call that out? How is this not a waste of money?

I don't know who ended up burning every one of you apparently, but as I said, I'm not in a position to buy right now. Plus if you wanted to really look into it, this listing is from Michigan, and I'm from Illinois, as my profile states, and my eBay I'd is aprilerenee13 on which the only Music item you'll see sold is a RSD Metallica cassette.
And not clutter the boards? They're a mess, and the search bar doesn't work so maybe fix that?

Well it's not my listing, if I had it I wouldn't sell it. That's been in my wish list since I started here, I'm also offering albums to trade for it so that would be pretty dumb.
And posted it here because I have a baby due next month and am not financially able to spring for that album right now so I thought I would try to help someone else out who may be looking for it.
And as much as you guys make fun of me for being a 311 fan, simple things like showing someone a good eBay find that they may have been looking for, is the kind hearted nice gesture most of us 311 fans would do.

jeromium got a reaction from thesewoodenideas in PO: Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary 3LP reissue
I've never been a Wolf Parade fan, in fact I couldn't stand what they were doing when they hit the scene, but did finally listen to this album a few times about 4 years ago as it's well-regarded for 2005. and I liked a few tracks. Based on the attractiveness of this package I decided to revisit the album today. And still, aside from those few songs I can't help but hear what I initially heard in 2005 - a Modest Mouse copycat album that came out right after MM hit the mainstream. This and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, I couldn't stand them for having that "I wish I was Issac Brock" sound. I've never listened to that album and don't plan to, and like I said there are some quite good songs on this Wolf Parade album, but it's no classic to my ears. The production sounds pretty weak too. This one's just not for me. I'll give it that it's better than We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, at least.

RSD has become the predictor of future half-off bins at your local. This year is such a garbage dump. Frankie Goes To Hollywood fans are totally stoked but once again we are reminded that your independent label is now backlogged thanks to a picture disc featuring the mug of that guy from Disturbed. Seriously, to get the stuff that will sell the locals will get saddled with so much total junk it's amazing - it's becoming corporate welfare for major labels to have some genius run their finger through the back catalogue, announce it as an RSD Exclusive repress then force the local to take 15 copies to get the stuff that will sell. My local now has two full bins of past RSD releases going back a few years.

I'd like that Lush set but at /2000 I think I can sit this one out and find it online which is exactly the attitude RSD is supposed to inspire against.
