Band sells out arenas world wide....shouldn't have ever played music because some random dude online doesn't like them.
    Right.

Saw the first single on SNL, wasn't really feeling it. Barely listened to Concrete & Gold either, and didn't find a whole lot to love in Sonic Highways. Maybe I just don't like this band anymore? The first three records are still top notch, as is Wasting Light, however.

Unrelated to the band but posting here cuz it's an active thread and I dunno where else to mention it: The site got an update and yet clicking thread stars still take you to just below your first unread post instead of just above it?

Yeah, yeah, I know this is petty but I've gotta know why this happens. Also I like this album, revolver /100 should be coming in any day now.

I would say it's good you played the original years ago so you could experience the ambiance and mood when it first came out. So, I would say definitely pick up the I + II collection to help get into the saga. The sequel is a very fun game and refines the Shenmue experience. And Sega did a great job porting the collection over with the game save carryover from Shenmue to Shenmue 2 intact. North American Shenmue fans were denied that functionality because the idiot Peter Moore made a deal for Shenmue II to appear exclusively on the Xbox in the US. Plus the collection is usually pretty cheap. Both games are also easy Platinums. And with Shenmue III, I thourohly loved the game. Yu Suzuki managed to keep the same feel and spirit of Shenmue in the third all of these years later.

Blue Note announced their Classics reissue series. It's a continuation of the BN80 series. Lots of heavy hitters in here. AAA mastering. Affordable prices. Best news for jazz vinyl reissues recently, imo.

That could potentially be really cool looking or a disaster. I trust it'll be cool though, curious to see it.

I can live with $40 for a double LP but $50 is really pushing it. I like that web store pinkish one but I don’t know if I have it in me. You know this is going to be widely available and discounted at some point.

My gawd, this $40 price point for new records is just MURDER on my finances. 😵

I would echo the sentiment someone said earlier of maybe trying to work in another local record store to pick the owner's brain and get a good idea of how the business is handled, day to day stuff, etc. It may turn out you don't even like it. Many people get the idea in their head that they want to own a small business and sell something that they love. A great idea on the face of it but it's so much more than that. I'm not actively trying to discourage you (or anyone who dreams of these things) but while being a small business owner can be fun and rewarding it is even more grueling and stressful. You will find yourself working harder and longer hours than anything you probably have previously done for less or, in many cases, no money. Think long and hard about it before throwing your savings and time into a small business.

Again, I'm really not trying to discourage you but many businesses fail because people don't know what they are getting into. If you are passionate, have drive, are a hard worker and have money that you can afford to lose without destroying your life then give it a go. Just be sure to have a plan and go in as best prepared as possible. Good luck!

Loving these reissues. I’m surprised there wasn’t a thread for the first batch. We should make this a Prince super-thread since this reissue campaign will be going on for quite a bit.

This company won't exist in a year. Those are truly outrageous prices. I've been an off and on member for the past few years but there are not many exclusives that would reel me in for $43 a month. I have a six month sub ending in December, that'll likely be it for me unless they get some absolutely insane albums.

I agree. Perhaps there will be one or two exclusives a year I'd feel like I would need at that price point, tops. But they are actively discouraging multi-month plans because who wants to roll the dice at such an expensive price point? Even the yearly membership has each month coming in at $33 for something you may not even like. Insanity.

Personally, I think the company is in a death spiral and has been for some time. This reeks of absolute desperation and their giant shipping mishaps from a few months ago probably greatly accelerated their demise. I assume they were already dealing with thin profit margins and that just put them in the red with no way out. Whoever is steering that ship is just woefully inadequate.
