Last August we sold our house. Built a new house, finished it in October. Then decided to finish the basement myself. Been without records and audio for 10 months. About 3 weeks ago I finished the basement enough to start moving stuff in. It's a work in progress with still more stuff yet to come from the framers.

mesi got a reaction from Freki in Planning for speaker cable while installing a new floor.
I also strongly dislike it when cables are showing, so I went through pretty much the same thought process as you when we built our house.
As I wasn't entirely sure where my speakers/amp would end up later on, putting speaker cables under the wood never really was a possibility, but personally I feel as though that might just be an overkill and overthinking it.
I ended up have a conduit for the cables cut into the baseboards, works perfect for me, and is a pretty easy solution. I also don't think that a cable run of 20' should pose any problem at all. If I want to switch out the cables later on, it will take less than a minute to do it. Hope this helps.

mesi reacted to Sidney Crosley in Mid Year Review
Best so far:
The xx
Julie Byrne
Sampha
Jens Lekman
Father John Misty
Mount Eerie (okay, objectively beautiful and amazing, but so incredibly sad that I cannot ever listen again)
Most excited for:
HAIM
Fleet Foxes
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit
The Wrens* (no idea if their album will come out this year. I mostly just hope for it every year)

mesi reacted to Shelby in Post a PIC Of Your Collection (Band or Label ONLY)
So I'm moving and records are last so I have excess space. That means it's collection photo time so here's a few of my favorite complete discographies that I've hoarded over the years. If I'm missing a record [Pablo Honey] it doesn't count so that ruled out a lot of large artist collections I have that are bigger than these. (I don't have access to my 7"s and 10"s but basically have all of those for each artist too.)
The Appleseed Cast
Arcade Fire
Built to Spill
Dreamend
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Modest Mouse
Prawn
Titus Andronicus
(lol Local Business really is the red-headed step-child.)

mesi reacted to throughbeingcruel in What video games have you been playing?
Horizon is pretty good if you dig Farcry and the like, but it's pretty shallow as mentioned by rooks. Still fun for sure, but it's not the system seller people make it out to be.
I know it's not a new game, but the Crash Bandicoot remakes have me so excited. I even bought a PlayStation mainly for them (obviously I got other games to consume time until it releases). I played Crash 3 regularly for like 13 years (until I no longer had a system to play it on), so I'll get like a billion hours out of the remasters.

Has there been any must have game on PS4 thus far in 2017? Not really, right?

As a result of the long run time I'm thinking it'll be unlikely to see this on anything but a two cd set hence why I'm just bumping it here not making a new thread. I have most of these tracks but I'm still in. Gotta keep that collection going strong.

Think this will be a compilation of non LP tracks, B-sides and rarities cannot confirm or deny this though.
I'm just praying to high heaven that a full version of "Splitting Our Collection" is on there if I'm right.

Thanks a lot! Not sure how I feel about Machinist, which is why I asked.

From what I remember, the new ones sounded more in-line with the Psychopomp stuff, but she only played like 3 or 4 new ones. If I had to guess, I would say the new album will probably have a few songs like Machinist too. One of the new songs was a fleshed-out reworking of Road Head and it was phenom.
