I used to love Ryan’s music, and still do in a way, it’s just harder to separate his art from him when most of his art is him begging for sympathy. I think that’s my problem with the new album. “I’m Sorry And I Love You” would be a textbook Ryan song that isn’t half bad but after everything that surfaced, it’s impossible to take a song with lyrics like that seriously. Even if everything in “Birmingham” about Isbell is true, I don’t think it’s really the time to be casting blame on others who had entirely different mental struggles. He’ll never garner anywhere near the support he had before but I think a lot of people, me included, would be willing to listen with more of an open mind if he had put out a clear, sincere apology and actually owned up to the shit he’s done. 
 
To me this is an attempt to just gain more sympathy. To release an album without making a statement on everything that’s happened regarding him over the last few years seems like he’s just trying to sweep it under the rug.

As stated above, definitely do not hesitate to post new threads for fear that they won’t mesh with general VC tastes.  I’ve seen too many good threads sink off of page 1 and never resurface, while trash nostalgia cash-grabs and Nickelodeon 7”s steal the spotlight and stay afloat.  If you find yourself excited about music that goes against this board’s grain, you’re probably doing it right.

No Frances the Mute 12”? Or did they do the right thing this time and ditch the etching and put the song on side A of the triple LP where it belongs?

I thought that I'd bought the 100 Broken Windows reissue & prompted by this news went to pull it out, but now can't find it and doubting if i did buy it!  Loved Captain when it came out.

Niiiceeee. Love that album too. Slowly creeping towards a Remote Part reissue hopefully.

Holding out for a non black, non boxset variant. I dig eels but I regret the few boxsets I've bought for standard releases. They're a pain.

Gonna echo everyone else here: I'm super duper glad I went out of my way to order an identical red/ orange for a signed postcard of arguably the worst band photo I've ever seen. Related note: gonna hoard said postcard forever.

Can someone give me a quick rundown of what was so great about dead format? I remember being blown away at how bad it was compared to all the hype. What was  I missing?
