Seems to me ever since Antics they have been desperately trying to recreate the magic they found on their first album. They're just one of those bands that have been blessed and cursed with the success of their debut. Critically they are never going to overcome Turn on the Bright Lights but they can still write formulaic rock songs that sound like Interpol and sell out venues, and I think they know that. From Wiki: "The band announced on June 5, 2014 that their fifth studio album, entitled El Pintor, would be released on September 9, 2014. It will be the band's first album since the departure of bassist Carlos Dengler, with Paul Banks taking over bass duties for the first time as well as touring member Brandon Curtis taking over keyboard duties on nine of the ten album tracks." Good on first listen - not so far from s/t but better hooks and more interesting musically. Lights was the only standout track for me from that record. All the Rage Back Home is a great opener. Then the White, which I've now read has alternative cover (just the font is different color I believe?)
