Shoegaze/Dream Pop Thread

Not sure if this got posted, but Torontos Iris now has POs up for their wonderful EP Haunt Me over at MiddleMan Records.

Curse this place!   That is pure dope - first track sounds like it could have been ripped right off Whirl's Distressor, and the rest is worth  a tenner. (seriously, thanks for posting)

The new Queen Kwong song "Get A Witness" has a pretty spaced-out dreampop feel to it. Although their first EP was leaning more towards a Brit-pop sound a la Elastica (but stripped down), this is a new progression of sorts.

damn throwin some shade on Pussy Riot

loved the two clips and her direct, no nonsense answers, especially on stereotypes.

suprised she would actually call out a band for using political issues as a publicity stunt - but I bet she knows them better than we do! Go girl!

Wow I can't get over how much they sound EXACTLY like Whirr...I feel like they are copying them a little too much?? Does that kind of ruin it for people when a band almost sounds identical...IDK

May order cause it still is solid. And I LOVE TEN INCHES!

it's a shoe gaze band. Distorted guitars and buried vocals. With that said I don't see whir. Way too many other bands have done this and way better than whir. Doubt they thought let's rip off that band

I highly recommend Airiel.  Some of the prettiest and heaviest shoegaze I've heard.  Great band from Chicago that's criminally underrated in my opinion.

I'd also recommend Lightfoils.  Features a few ex-members of Airiel.

*Many apologies for stuffing this post.  I didn't want to double post.

New Album coming soon by Seapony. Their early stuff wasn't the best, but the last album 'Falling' I really liked. First two singles from this are pretty nice as well, so I'll probably be picking it up soon!

Also of note, Daughter is in the studio working on their follow up to If You Leave!!! Super excite!

I can see why you say that, this ep and their last seem to sound like older Whirr with the female vocal, but I actually like that since Whirr dropped the female vocal altogether, and yeah pretty generic nugaze at the same time

yep, good synopsis, but still love that 'generic' though, and Iris put their own little twist /nuance to it.

Members of Slowdive, Mogwai, and Editors form new group, Minor Victories.

http://www.nme.com/news/various-artists/86876

Trying to wrap my head as to what they are going to sound like ...similar to wondering what Chino + ISIS (Palms) were going to sound like, since most 'supergroups' haven't really panned out in my collection.  Palms are a home run, hopefully so will Minor Victories

Thanks for posting, Juan!  Off to twitter to add another one...
