El Pee
They did this last year and it was awful. The staff at my local shop didn't even know it was 'vinyl day,' so they had no idea what I was talking about when I asked what was going on... I had to ask because there were no people in the music section of the store. Turns out the big deal was that if I bought 3 records (at regular price) I would get a free bag. A bag like the free re-useable supermarket bags with the B&N log on it...
Dominic_
Here I was thinking nothing could top the shot show that is RSD.

psus2h
I'm betting bigger stores that typically host signings and other special events will have some pretty rad stuff.

The managed to have a random giveaway for a Crosley turntable and headphones too + a guess the album artwork thing for another tote bag. Neat idea but it isn't really well done, the 'exclusives' they pick up are incredibly niche.

I was thinking this thing happened a year ago in Nov. 2014. Nevermind.
stl_ben
May have to check this out. Looks like only about half the local b&ns are participating. WAXXX

They had another 'vinyl day' in May this year, unrelated to RSD. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/blog/july-25-vinyl-day/ Needless to say, it was just as underwhelming as this one. museummouth
So they have some exclusive signed vinyl in stores. Picked up a copy of Sleater Kinney's No Cities to Love that came with a signed print for $13 after a coupon. Not bad. https://instagram.com/p/-WhBelS5WS/?taken-by=offtherecs

museummouth
What coupon? They send me coupons a lot by being a member. Plus I get other ones just from having bought stuff online from them.
kramer73
Nice, if I didn't have two copies already (one signed), I'd be all over that. I picked up the translucent orange Neko Case Blacklisted.
