What records did you get for the Holidays?

My mom bought me the Monkees 'Head' reissue on Rhino - black, not clear, the premium for the clear was a bit outrageous - and I bought myself Suede's 'The Drowners', 'Metal Mickey', 'Animal Nitrate' and 'So Young' 12"s from Discogs after searching for years and not having much luck finding good condition copies that didn't triple in price when I added in shipping.

I'm content.

i didnt ask for records this year but bought one for myself which was waiting in my mailbox on christmas day.

Old man markley - guts n teeth lp on purple vinyl

but this was an insane Christmas, and i feel like a spoiled brat.

Work gave me:

ipad2 + case

$250 amex card

+ huge end of the year bonus

Sales reps i work with gave me:

personalized Tampa bay lightning hockey jersey

gift cards to local restaurants

and many cookie and treat baskets

My fiance's family gave me:

about $75 worth of itunes gift cards and a few starbucks gift cards

my parents gave us:

New dish washer and clothes washer (since both of them died in the last month)

my ol' lady gave me:

new pair of asics - onitsuka tigers

element jeans

work shirts

grilling utensils

and to cap it off, i got part of my inheritance from my grandma that passed last year.

im still in shock about everything.

From the girlfriend:

Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Lie Down In The Light

Ted Leo - Shake The Sheets

Obits - Moody, Standard, and Poor

...and non-record stuff: Whiskey Stones (!!!), had my broken watch fixed (took it off my dresser, I had no idea).

From the parents:

Monster Turbine Gold IEMS

Clothing stuffs I wouldn't buy for myself

An AWESOME food processor

Others:

2 Vegetarian cookbooks

1 Pizza cookbook

The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz

2000 pc. puzzle

2 Tickets to the movies

I feel spoiled too. This year, everyone put money limits on gift-giving, which I think turned out AWESOME. Everything was so thoughtful.

Pinback - Blue Screen Life (Clear 2XLP)

My girlfriend rules.

I'm almost positive she got it from Reckless because I saw it on their website late one night and wanted to call them to hold it for me the next morning and when I checked the site, it was gone. I hate her for that. ;)

Close! I think the Fashion Nugget was from Reckless (there was a copy up for $89.99 if I remember correctly). I DID see that BSL for like, $12.99?! It was listed as 'good' condition, but still, that's a hell of a price for that.

Forgot to mention - also a Bongload Press of Elliott Smith - XO

I put a Deathwish list together so I got

GUTG- We're Down and Background Music on 180 gm. So now I have 4 copies of each, but I know that

I would regret not having the 180. Also got the red version of Parting the Sea.

It was cool to get some jazz, Freddie Hubbard "Goin Up" on 180 gm 45 rpm.

On a side note, our family plans got changed and we ended up at our friend's house for xmas. They

had an expedit filled with records that belonged to relatives. They didn't even really know what was

there, so I asked if I could browse them.

Just a bunch of junk 60's jazz like original pressing on Prestige, Status,

Black Jazz, Impulse, Saba, etc... and many of them sealed. It was painful to see it all and know that I

wasn't buying them. I had to stop looking through them because I saw so much stuff I wanted.

Replacement AV cable for my gamecube that my cat chewed up

Honey roasted peanuts

Dad:

$50 Visa Card

Future-mom-in-law:

Simply amazed by the generosity of the people in my life.
