Green Tea Papi
Today I walking into blockbuster, and it was by far the most depressing thing; all the posters off the wall, no TVs playing, just radio over the intercom. I felt so sad as I grew up here, I knew a lot of the employees by first name, they knew my taste in movie, and video games. Though it had been 2 or so years since I had entered the store people lit up to see me. My family and I spent Friday nights here a good hour of so just picking out a movie to watch and we would go home and watch it together as a family. It's a shame the closest thing my children will get to this is flicking though the Netflix catalog. So do you guys have any stories of the wonderful world of video rental? tomfiend
I used to hate when I'd rent videos and it wasn't re-wound or it was so old it would just stop half way through.

Green Tea Papi
Welcome to 2010 I know but this one stayed when all the Hollywood Videos, and Blockbusters around here closed, this store stayed. But like all good things this came to it's end.

marc32137
The Blockbuster near me closed last summer. Rarely rented from there, but they used to have awesome pre-owned Blu-Ray sales.
maneatingcow
Yay for Family Video reference. Thats all that is around me too. Haven't been in a Video rental store in 10 years or so though.
Guest
Ironically family video is the only video store I've ever been in that has porn. videos for the family, plus porn.

monsterrod
When the local "Major Video" was bought out by blockbuster, years and years ago, they had to get rid of their porn selection, since the 'buster doesn't carry the dirty flicks. Well, I was lucky enough to know a dude who worked there and I got hooked up with SO MANY PORNO TAPES right as I was hitting my pubic stride. That must be how you bastard kids have it these days with the Internet; new shit whenever you want it. I still had to gain access to a VCR to get it on, but when I did, oh lawd it was a free-for-all. no use for a username

Dillhole
Last blockbuster went out about 6 months ago. Like the OP I used to go there weekly!! Especially back when I rented N64 games constantly. We have one Family Video in the area that does pretty good, and of course dozens of red boxes, which are what I prefer to use. TFP
The only thing I wonder is if all the Blockbuster/rental stores close and all you have are Redbox and Netflix what if there is an obscure title you can't find and don't want to download illegally? imkylejackson
The Movie Gallery around the corner from my parent's house has been closed for five years now and it's still an empty building in an otherwise really busy/successful plaza. Sad.

Matt Average
I "rented" a few 360 games from the Blockbuster near me when I knew they were nearing their death rattle. The phone call from whoever buys the company in a few years should be fun.
