When I first heard some of the GOE tracks I didnt like the production, I've now grown fond of it, but the pacing and more straightforward production really grabbed me. Typical power/bar chord progressions, and then for the chorus they fuzz out the vocals. I don't think the Vogue writer was that far off really (except 'crushing.' ha. Maybe for another era or genre- those distortion/gain guitar sounds might be 'crushing.'
