unknown pleasures got a reaction from thievedrelic in Heads Up on USPS International Shipping
You’re a true die-hard collector when you disregard the impact of Brexit on border crossings & the cost of medicine but focus instead on how record purchases will be taxed! 😉

I think you’re only partially correct. Based on what I can find on the USPS site (and even the PDF you linked to) it’s true the letter rate will have a 16oz maximum but for packages there’s still rates up to 64oz.
I even used the online calculator to enter a package with a scheduled shipping date of June 25th and it let me generate a first class label for a 2lb package shipping to Europe.
I could be totally wrong, please correct me if I am...

unknown pleasures got a reaction from toxicity in Discogs Charging US Sales Tax, Beginning July 1st
I’m sure if you use Discogs you already saw the notices but the site is going to start automatically collecting sales tax for about 20 US states starting in July:
https://support.discogs.com/hc/en-us/articles/360024123194
Starting July 1, 2019, Discogs will be taking on full responsibility for the calculation, collection, and remittance of sales taxes in all states where we qualify as a Marketplace Facilitator (MPF). A list of these states is available in the help article linked below.
In states where Discogs does not qualify as an MPF, it is important for sellers to determine their own sales tax responsibilities. We urge sellers to use a professional tax advisor to help determine these responsibilities.
Discogs will be launching a new feature where sellers can view MPF states as well as toggle on / off states that they've determined it is necessary to collect sales tax. Beginning July 1, this tool will be available on the seller settings page. We will also be adding new information to the Marketplace Order export to assist with tracking sales tax that has been collected.
It looks like they’ll add it into the purchase and then pay it on behalf of sellers, so if you live in one of the affected states expect the price of your Discogs purchases to go up.
(Seems like a lot of the European sellers on the forums are upset and threatening to block US sales!)

Loss of fidelity would probably be an improvement.

Has vinyl become mainstream enough that I can submit a network pilot for an "Odd Couple" like pair of roommates? They'd be a pair of twentysomething males in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Both would buy records but one would do it for the love of the music while the other is a "no-good flipper." The opening credits would show them flipping through dusty stacks of vinyl, one unearthing a rare Velvets acetate while heart symbols appear over his head, the other coming across something equally rare with dollar signs above his. There'd be a scene in line at RSD where the one guy is working on his want-list and looking forward to spinning his new purchases later that day while the flipper is paying off homeless dudes with booze to hold his place in line at Rough Trade and Academy. A running joke would be that our purist has an amazing turntable setup costing a small fortune while the flipper doesn't even own a record player, and in fact doesn't even know how to play one.
I'm thinking 9:00pm on Thursdays.

There’s not many things that have come out in the past decade that I’ve loved every second of, but that EP is one of them.
Absolutely brilliant dream pop.

Given the show’s setting, it seems like a missed opportunity to do a Kmart exclusive. Y’know, before they’re totally bankrupt.
(Personally, an orange Orange Julius exclusive would have been my first pick over UO if I was the marketing guy.)

Think I’m going to buy this Halloween one and hopefully quit cold turkey; they’re cool enough that I’d probably want to pick up a bunch and I’ve got enough collecting vices already without going down the Tiki black hole...

Quiet now, I had just convinced myself a Halloween tiki mug was a bargain at $60. Let me be happy with my delusional purchases...

This is a pretty interesting flip situation, since A] the band somewhat saturated the market and B] it was clearly sold “as-is” with known damage to the sleeve, but no real detail about the extent of the damage.
I’d feel bad for the fans that bought it, but admit it would be amusing if the sleeve are absolutely ruined/torn/water damaged and the flippers have to suck it up and practically take a loss...

Could it be anymore obvious they listened to a lot of Interpol? May as well be their tribute band...
EDIT: I have no idea when Interpol started.
