I've been flipping through this book the past few days. Did you make another one this school-year?

    I have very specific interests:
Indie rock bands old enough to have a Geocities page but not quite new enough for MySpace.
American power pop bands from Southern California between 1978-1982.
Elvis Costello albums that involve the Attractions but not the Imposters, or the 80s.
Prewar folk music dealing exclusively with John Henry.
Canadian bands that got MuchMusic airtime in the 90s in spite of their weirdness.
The National's Sorrow (fortunately very popular these days).
    Trap.

Here's a picture from a recent summit of Mt. St. Helens. We had the top to ourselves for a whole 30 minutes.. Just enough time to eat lunch and snap a few pictures.

There are several Eric's Trip 7"s at Taz, or were recently. Julie's solo stuff all deserves to be pressed as well. The album she did with the Wooden Stars came out on vinyl fairly recently, highly recommended.

If it is true a store is closing and you want to open one then you need to contact them and find out what they are doing with their shit. Often when a store closes they will sell off all their shelving, display fixtures, cash registers, etc, could be a good opportunity to get all the things you need to have a brick and mortar store.

You need a point of sale system and other ways of managing your inventory, knowing what you have, what has sold, what you need to order more of when it sells out, this is all critically important.

You need distributor accounts where you can purchase stock for your store. This is as easy as contacting them and proving you are a real business.

Yep. Was stoked to pick this up just to put on wall. Have no intention of listening to it. Just looks amazing.

Edit: Three downvotes because I don't want to spin it? Don't hate me. It comes with a poster, insert, and cool looking red vinyl. The movie is awesome. I'm a Lone Wolf & Cub fan, have read all the manga, and have seen all the movies. Is this not a collective forum for collectors that want to physically own something that makes them happy?

No one wants to see that shit.
But it is nice keeping signatures enabled so I can still see tradelists and the like.
Make a post in this thread so I (and everyone who doesn't want to see a picture of some guitarist or whatever in every thread) can Ad-Block the big stupid picture in your signature.

Is the coloured version for all of North America or just the US? I think my boss overestimated peoples interest in BtS around here so there's like 20 copies of this record sitting on the shelf. Tempted to slice them open to find a coloured one to help you guys out.

All this shit is practically designed to flip. Its appeal is based on its "collectibility", almost none of it would sell if it came out a month ago, and pretty much all the releases that would sell will get wide releases later in the year. It's honestly pretty pathetic how worked up some of you are getting about it. Don't hate the player, etc. It's like getting mad at a bootleg t-shirt vendor for opportunistically profiting off the competitive spirit of the Super Bowl.

The point of flipping records IS to make as much profit as possible.  That's what you guys don't understand.  No one flips a record and tries to make LESS of a profit.  It's economics.  It's how business works.  The market.  Koch Brothers.  Benghazi.  America Works.  Claire is leaving, OMG.  Interpunk's vault is the market at work.  Men at Work.  It's punk to flip.

    Hey Dudes and Ladydudes-

For the first time ever, 2003's Seal Beach is on wax.  Pressed it up ourselves.  DIY or DIE.

Black vinyl, full color printed sleeve inside of a full color printed jacket.  $16 + shipping
We have 50 signed copies for sale, also for $16, they are going fast.

(but don't worry, we have 950+ regular copies that should be around for a while)

The only way to get to them for the next day or two will be this link:  http://albumleafstore.com/collections/seal-beach

So far we've only sent it out to our email list, and posted it here.  We are facetweetspacing on Monday.  You guys here on these boards have been super supportive on the last few things we've done (forward/return, perils from the sea), so thank you.  We appreciate it.

Also, for anyone who might be a record store owner/buyer/employee, we have set-up a separate password protected distro online store.  Please contact me at [email protected], if you own a store and want to buy at wholesale prices direct from us.

Ok cool.  Vinyl, yeah, so rad that people are supporting it... it's really fucking awesome for us dudes in bands.  Thank you.

"Album of the year thus far" should be emphasized more often, I agree.

I missed a lot in this thread.  But basically, I think the record is pretty solid.  I'm not feeling the 10/10 hype, nor do I think it's the best hip-hop record I've heard in the last decade, but I enjoy it well enough.  It's still going to take me some time to digest.

Surprise album releases are doing for music criticism what 24 hour news networks did for news journalism. These critics are listening to an album once and claiming it's a masterpiece because they're being pressured for a review. They have preconceived opinions going into the listen, and don't really have time to digest the music and let it settle. The reviews are less and less about the music itself and more and more about getting content onto a website before people move onto the next big thing.

your review of the condition of that record is about as accurate/relevant as your review of duck dynasty (according to your teacher's comments). maybe, spend less time worrying about records, and more time focusing on school work.
