deer got a reaction from jeffthomas84 in PO: Being As An Ocean - Dear G-d
I wonder if they're gonna butcher the songs live in the style of their awful new album or rekindle some of that wonder that everything leading up to it had. Honestly still miffed at how bad PROXY was. These guys were real good before that.

deer reacted to radiatorhums in PO 10.01.21: Infant Island - Collections I (Extras, Remixes, Rarities & Demos 2016-2020)
That's a frustrating number. 280 copies would probably go quick anyway, but 4 variants means some people are going to be buying one of each.

deer reacted to Squard in Urashima Thread (Rare harsh noise reissues)
This label is always dropping all sorts of fantastic classic noise, figured it'd be nice to have one thread for their catalogue. Pre-orders are up now for Hate by Masonna (this is the first ever re-release of the original cassette edition of 15) and Cosmic Coincidence Control Center by C.C.C.C. I have a few Merzbow albums by them and they're fantastic, they also do really nice wooden box sets which have historically been too expensive for me. One of my favorite labels for sure.

deer got a reaction from prowl20 in PO: All Else Failed - This Never Happened
Mandatory buy and one of the most undernoticed albums of its time. Really, anyone on this forum who's got a sliver of interest into the overlap of hardcore/post-hardcore and emo needs to listen to this. It's amazing.

deer got a reaction from N8TRU in PO: NOTHING - The Great Dismal (10/30/2020) & The Great Dismal B-Sides 12" (10/8/21) - Up Next: Collab w/ Full of Hell 10/11 Midnight EST
With you there on that La Dispute album—I can barely hear the lyrics, really confusing why that was given the go-ahead. Ruins the album completely for me. Couldn't get through it. The same choices made on albums like this (those floaty, ethereal vocals that occasionally get lost in the noise really do a lot for me with Nothing) will let down stuff like La Dispute.

Yup, exactly that. They are all still very close with ryland.

I feel like there's a joke in there about being a deer and wanting something to hit you hard.

deer reacted to Derek™ in PO Now: TWIABP - Always Foreign - September 29, 2017
They may’ve tightened up their ability to perform forgettable material in a live setting, but from a songwriting and compositional standpoint they are a shadow of what they used to be, if you ask me. Close your eyes and revisit a time where they dropped January 10th, 2014 as a single one morning. What a tragic timeline for these guys.

deer reacted to Shelby in PO Now: TWIABP - Always Foreign - September 29, 2017
I like how they say their lineup is the strongest it's ever been right now yet they release a compilation from before when the band didn't suck. Nicole's stupid White Claw cassette was a more worthwhile release than whatever this shitty group of musicians riding the coattails of past members success could muster up.
RIP Tom I hope your family is getting some of the proceeds.

deer got a reaction from li0nel in PO: Counterparts - Nothing Left To Love (11/01/2019)
Picked up the /100 marble earlier this morning. Conversion rates from CAN to GBP are pretty great so it was affordable. If any really cool variants go up from PNR (which they usually do) I might get one of those too, but right now I'm satisfied.
Counterparts can do no wrong.

deer got a reaction from N8TRU in PO: Seahaven - Reverie Lagoon: Music for Escapism Only
I don't know if this is just a one-off or not, but Seahaven is playing some shows with Man Overboard in November/December.
I'm hoping it means that we might be getting more from the band someday. I really hope so. Reverie Lagoon is such a special record to me.

Boomkat pulling through reliably and efficiently. Not gonna go on about it any more, yall know how it goes. Sounds great, very thankful.

I’d love for them to offer a slipcase to house the entire set. I’d be all over that. No way am I not getting all of them.

Cut it out. The concept of this project is depressing enough.

deer got a reaction from MCDELTAT in PO: Pianos Become The Teeth - Wait For Love (2-16-18)
It's an ok track. I still yearn for them to make songs like Hiding again, but I know that won't happen. Wish they would have pulled at least a little further away from their last album, though. It sounds like Keep You but without the darkness that made that album separate itself from the usual soft-indie-rock aesthetic.
Don't get me wrong - Keep You was refreshing in their discography, and when I saw them play songs from that album live alongside their older songs I fully appreciated that album. But... it feels like they're playing it so safe now. In the end it's up to them, of course, I just hope they're not doing this to fulfil any quota or contract or anything.

I'm so excited for LP3. Going to buy whatever cool deluxe or limited version appears, no hesitation.

deer got a reaction from Group Buy Guy in PO: DEATH Repress Galore (/200 each)
Looks great, although I only have a limited amount of funds so I left off two. They're all good! Just had to pick up the ones that have had the most impact on me.
