I'm not a massive Thrush Hermit fan, but The Day We Hit the Coast is total classic 90s Canadiana, one of my favourites.   I'd def pick up the LP just for that track.

I've only listened to the album once completely so far. I dug the singles, and I like the album as a whole, but it's pretty same-y throughout. I think I still like Death Magic more.
 
As for where to start with Health? The singles. That includes the recent collabs, Euphoria off of Disco3 (which may be my favourite track), and some of their remixes (like stuff for Crystal Castles). There are a lot and they're all over the place, plus they generally have great videos. Then I'd say work backwards on actual albums, from this one to the first album, and then do Disco 3/3+/2/1.
 
**oh yeah, I got the download code for the album last night (glad that they're finally including FLAC), and the shipping notification for the red version came today.

I totally slept on RSD this year and had no idea that Gravediggaz had a repress. Despite it being a pic disc I had to get it, placed an order with your store.

Directed by Graham Reznick, the sound designer for horror features like Stake Land, The House Of The Devil, and The Sacrament whose credits also include co-writing the video game Until Dawn and the Dave Bautista action-thriller Bushwick, Deadwax follows Etta (Hannah Gross from Mindhunter), a young woman with a talent for procuring rare records for rich collectors. 
The story takes a turn for the gruesome when Etta gets her hands on a legendary “key” record from master sound engineer Lyle M. Lytton, one of only three in existence, identified by the “strange, ominous” marks in its dead wax. After police discover that one of these records is linked to the death of another record collector, Etta sets out to unravel the mystery.
 
It also has Ted Rami in some episodes so it should be fun.

anyone else listen to the album yet? I'm a bit disappointed. No real hooks, the production is a bit boring, those last couple tracks they finished off for him are pretty lame, and an entire album about doing drugs and dying is a little too on-brand right now. PT.1 was way better, but too short.

that’s awesome. i’m a massive fan, but i’ve only been able to see him one time (he doesn’t come to vancouver often and i wasn’t legal age in the 90s when he did). truely one of the most slept on canadian artists.

Teenage Engineering makes really cool shit and knows audio (maker of various synths and speaker systems, ex-employees of Elektron, another awesome synth/sampler/etc maker. very good and generally pretty expensive). I don't know how much they know about turntables, if that's actually going to happen, but I trust them to not link themselves to garbage.

if its not FLAC (or WAV for me to convert), I don't bother and just torrent the FLAC version of what I bought. labels need to up their game, mp3 doesn't cut it anymore. doesn't have to be a 24bit download, but that's great too.

expensive, but grabbed. I have the first three, but missed out on the July 2013 EP. I just hope they up their shipping game, every Danger record I have has a trashed cover, they basically shipped in a padded envelope.

doing that ray bans commercial was a travesty, it's appalling to not have the integrity of classic metal bands like metallica, maiden, sabbath, megadeth etc. who would never dream of selling their music or slapping their name on random shit for money. what's next? deafheaven baby onesies? artwork on sneakers? truck commercial soundtracks?

I don't know anything about this band, I've seen the name around last year on "bands to watch" lists but never got around to checking them out. I totally get not wanting to support them in any form. But if you already own the album and actually enjoyed the music, will you actually throw out the album and/or never play it again?
 
Where does the line between being a shitty person and art get drawn? are exceptions only made for old established bands? we all know that Lennon was abusive, Clapton was a racist, and countless classic rock guys fucked 13 year olds but they've all been given a pass musically. In a year or so (really, give it 3-4 months) when this settles down and everyone forgets, is the music that was produced prior to the allegations that tainted?

I ordered from bandcamp, they didn't charge me shipping. Get home today, and found that they sent me TWO copies (both puss). And not like two in a package, they sent two totally separate packages, both totally legit boxes entirely wrapped in that paper tape w/string inside (took forever to cut through), and foam core boards on either side of the 7" for protection. For $10USD to Vancouver Canada. Prob the best packed record I've ever been sent.

my family had a couple turntables that did that growing up. no idea if there's a company that still makes them that isn't crosley or similar, I'm pretty sure that it's really bad for the records (dropping them, changing the angle of the needle as the height increases, etc.)
