lol sorry I got bored of a band doing the same shit over and over? I had the same problem with explosions in the sky until the wilderness came out, and it seems like they were aware of it themselves given that they took 5 years to record and release it after their last boring ass retread of the same sound they’d been doing for a decade.

I have a problem with homogeneous music that is just repeating and retreading old ground, and if Mono’s output since Hymn doesnt exemplify that sentiment to a T, idk what does.

Mogwai has been boring as shit for a decade too, same ass problem.

Sigur ros’s comeback album valtari was the same deal until they released Kveikur.

I’m not bitching for the fun of it, I’m discussing music on a message board about music. Sorry I dont contribute to your echo chamber in an approved manner.

Not really sure what you're expecting from an instrumental band of this nature. This is like their 10th album now, so it's kind of obvious to expect something along the same lines of their previous work. Do you expect them to all of a sudden start writing overwhelming orchestral movements with a 100-person choir?
Do you give bands like Mogwai or Tortoise the same kind of flack? This just seems like complaining for the sake of having an opinion.

I don't have the stomach to watch the video, but I bet it's AM.  I'm quite a big fan of their first album and nothing after it, but AM is just insulting to those who loved their garage rock revival sound.

I love that one of the first comments is “$25.99, I’ll pass” when newer ETID records sell for more on the aftermarket than that. Last time I saw From Parts Unkown in a store, it was used and $60.

Just ordered and don't care about the price - one of my fave albums and a cool looking variant too.  Now I'm just scared to see what other versions may pop up elsewhere...

I'm interested but not at that price... Although if this is the only variant, I'll have to get it if it doesn't sell out before then.

Lol. A new mastering is a small deal? If you say so.
You must just buy records for the pretty colors.

Thank you for your mind blowing proclamation. We will always remember that you are just in it for the music. I am definitely buying the album, I just don't feel in a rush to buy it before it comes out. I love this band and you are making dumb ASSumptions. Think before you type, so you don't look like a complete fucking tool, just saying.

Better, but no, not really. Luckily the wall of sound is predominantly guitars and they’re excellent in that respect

Eh knowing a couple of em it’s safe to say they’re aware of it. It’s nothing I or anyone else is gonna boycott over, and i would totally do the same if I worked there. I’m really not broken up about it and I doubt he is either.

that being said, there’s one for $50 on discogs right now.

Which 90's song/group is being channeled through "I Hate The Flowers"? ?
Please, please no one have a serious answer, purdy please!

I guess ToT didn't pay enough homage to the 90's (or it was just more obvious for idiots like me who could hear the Hum and Nirvana tributes) - so they needed to do some more?
I passed on Acrobat (DoL), because I passed on the 500+ clone radio bands/albums in the 80's that came after early MTV and New Wave.  I bet Kyle had fun playing drums on that one   however to be fair they did a pretty good job of re-creating that feel (nausea for me).
Also, for those who care about my previous whining, I'm thinking I just got a defective piece of wax. The bonus tracks on the picture disc sound like what everyone else is describing. I thought I was losing my friggin mind. So, the Deluxe Tricolor will gather dust with all 25 or so of the other select Nothing vinyl variants, tapes and cd-r

My copy of the Deluxe arrived this afternoon. I listened twice through on bandcamp with my $5 earbuds earlier, and I was pleasantly surprised with the album overall.
Maybe 3-4 stand out tracks, but my favorite by far is I Hate The Flowers.  Good choice for the opener,  and Blue Line is solid. My son said it is his favorite Nothing song ever. Eh. Got a little hook though.
The tricolor is different than any of my other records in regular rotation (Harkonen, Nothing's GoE, Distressor etc which sound perfect) -- this is water color paint solid, ultraclear, solid again.  The lead-in/space in between songs/runout quiet there is a swooshy surface noise change 3 times each revolution.
I'll just shorten this up a bit: This is THE worst sounding vinyl POS in my collection.
Caspian's Tertia sounds way better than this! I can tweek the EQ on my Black 1st press copy of Tertia and make it listenable. Nothing I did helped the Dance.
Oh, and I turned up the volume (while also messing with the lows/mids/highs) until my ears about bled -- the highs went into torture mode.  (If SUNSHINE Shlebs was joking about this, you got me, dude. )
Thank goodness I got a cassette, because it sounds fantastic compared to the Deluxe. But I didn't notice any production or mixing issues on bandcamp, and I thought Nicky's vocals were plenty upfront and sounded strong all the way through. Maybe because the two of the three times I've seen them live, it's obvious he can't sing while intoxicated, lit or whatever. AudioTree live, I think he was hung over? Or maybe he just can't sing period. Studio touch up at its finest.
Interested in hearing others who got pressings besides the /100 or /500, or even a CD, or a Test Press. If this is what they intended it to sound like, I am at a total loss. ?Maybe to match the album art? smh
This would have been PERFECT Yip material. Can't believe I just typed that.
Disclaimer: I got into this band at DYTC, and thought when they went to Relapse for GoE and /500 was the limited that they overestimated how good GoE was. Wrong. GoE and ToT were AOTY for me.
