bear801 got a reaction from OneThreeOneTwo in Official Record Store Day Thread
I think my entire state received 1 copy of The Dirty Three total. Seriously i think ive called all of them at this point.
Looks like every store struck out anywhere near me.

They never evolved much but im kind of glad. They’re always a good predictable listen. The new single sounds like it could fit on any album lol.
also my youngest kids first show! We took our then one year old to a festival 8 years ago. They were the 1pm band. I have a soft spot for them.

The singer Brandin was a regular at a bar where I did sound for a bit and suffice it to say that he has never stopped living in and for the moment that they recorded their first music video. I genuinely think it's the only thing he ever talked about to me... which was pretty surreal, because I loved them on that show. There's no one more sad than a drunken failed rock star at the local watering hole.

bear801 reacted to ethanpricington in PO NOW: Taylor Swift - Folklore 2xLP
I always remember back in 2008, while visiting my now wife in Central Texas, my late father-in-law had just bought her self-titled album. Of course, i wanted nothing to do with country at the time (it was mid-2000s people - emo was at its peak!) But i vividly remember his statement that one day this girl was gonna be "bigger than Reba McIntyre"....sir how right you were..

I haven't even received all the records I ordered on day 1 of the folklore release, but fuck it... i'm still ordering all 9 variants of this.

Folklore is a lot more “Indie” than a lot of Indie music these days.

Not every town has a cool record store. Maybe this release is for the kid who picks it up in nowheresville USA and it changes his life.
I also think its pointless to adhere DIY punk mentality to a band of Metallica’s level. You want to talk corporations, they ARE a corporation

Picking this up tomorrow at Target.
usually not my type of music but a local school here (in a city that she has no ties to) was in a bind once and the amount of money that she gave with no publicity was unbelievable. I dont even know how she learned about it. So my wife and i always try to support her some kind of way.
the amount of variants is awesome.

bear801 reacted to youngwonton in MGK - Tickets to my Downfall
The lyrics are bad, the melodies are generic, his vocals are bland...and yet I can't stop listening to this album? It's like the McDonald's of albums this year for me. I know it's trashy and devoid of substance but I keep coming back for more.

Im old. I have kids in college and yet honestly this is my favorite rock album of the year (although the deluxe has some rap songs).
Such an easy listen.

Yeah this one is tied to a lot of memories.
in my highschool gym they were taking a break from rehearsing for a Christmas show. I saw a piano, a half-stack amp and a guitar. Not sure why there was a distortion pedal on the floor for a Christmas show but on a dare i turned the amp on and got halfway through Jaded before some teacher came in running. ...so about 60 seconds but man the acoustics sounded like i was playing a stadium
