  1. about how many 7"s would you say these hold? I like the bamboo one, but it's $17...
  2. dang, this year keeps getting better and better. and the best stuff is the "comeback" albums from folks who have been away a long ass time (Bowie, MBV, Wire, QOTSA, Suede, Daft Punk, etc). Here's hoping Mazzy Star (and NIN) continues the trend.
  3. I've had this on order from Amazon for a month... wonder if this will be any different for non-VIPs through Joyful Noise (missed out on the colored EP).
  4. I mean, this is cool and all, but my OGs sound more than great. I can't imagine spending big bucks for these fairly common titles.
  5. Dino Jr is beyond selling out. They've earned every dime they license... I'm glad they can finally make some bucks. That said, I'm not buying any of these (as much as I want those two 7"s).
  6. No b-side. Also it's streaming on Pitchfork. I want that 7" more than the skull candy one, but damn those shoes are ugly. also vegan.
  7. anyone buying these to use the headphones is missing the point. these are for collectors, obviously.
  8. Catherine Wheel - Chrome Black Belles - s/t absinthe green w/alternate cover Guns N Roses - Live Era Tom Waits - Orphans Box
  9. I hope it doesn't get pushed back again... this time is like the 3rd time since it was announced?
  10. glad I saw Dino Jr.'s facebook post about this last night... would have been bummed about missing this colored release.
  11. Beautiful World is in my neighborhood and yeah I agree that their stuff is in not-so-good shape most of the time. I've stopped shopping there because of that... their listening stations are in worse shape than the records, so you can't even gauge reliably with a listen. Long in the Tooth and Repo are my favorite stores in the city by a long shot. Double Decker and Princeton Record Exchange are the best "area" stores (ie, within an hour drive) - usually make trips to one or the other a couple times a month. Well worth the drive.
  12. according to Discogs, my biggest purchases over the past 5 years (since I've been using Discogs to buy records) have been $100 for mono Beatles White Album from 1982 and $106 for the Magnetic Fields 69 Love Songs box. Before that I can't remember spending big time bucks on anything - I've been fortunate in being able to buy most of my major wants for good prices as they are released.
  13. yeah, it was shitty and juvenile, but it could have turned out much worse. at least he's giving back the dough.
  14. I actually just got a refund on this... surprisingly. Here's the e-mail from shark:
  15. got my Mofi Pinkerton this morning and I've been playing it all day - worth every penny. Really hearing things in a way I've never heard them before - everything's grittier and dirtier and I love it.
  16. This is really nice sounding. If I were a fan of Core, I'd be all over it, but I'll definitely pick up any post-Purple STP they put out.
  17. Music Direct is notorious for charging shipping per item if you preorder a bunch of stuff at once with different release dates. I once ordered 4 records with the same expected release date, but of course their were delays and stuff shipped piecemeal and they tried to charge me shipping for each package. Took about 5 e-mails, but eventually they caved and gave me my money back.
  18. this might be the second or third time Rid of Me was supposed to be reissued. Last time I think was through Plain and Aural Exploits (ick). Fingers crossed these come out eventually - I need Is This Desire and Uh Huh Her to finish my collection. My OG copy of Rid of Me will be buried with me - it's amazing!
  19. this went up for order when I was on vacation and I totally missed the green one, but my black vinyl came today and it sounds fantastic. love the tunes and can't wait for the full length later this year.
  20. I have a Brazilian copy of Broken - bought it before I knew records from Brazil were a "thing." But honestly it sounds great and aside from the thinness of the vinyl, there's nothing wrong with it.
