mattvsshark
no repress is ever as cool as an original copy The originals sounded awful. I grabbed one of the last silver copies from SRC since I didn't want to be on pins and needles waiting for a chance to get the gold at a non-ridiculous price. I am excited for this! I've enjoyed the sound quality with all of the MOV releases I have. Heck, even the bootleg sounded better than the original. Also very stoked on the idea a remix of the album being released by the band themselves on vinyl. Would jump on that in a heartbeat. Lastly out of curiosity I emailed MOV as to what source material they used since there was an original master for the CD release and a remaster done for the silver picture discs. They responded by saying they used a high res transfer of the original masters...didn't really answer my question but we'll see how it turns out haha. mikeburns
Pulled the trigger on wowhd. Probably missed the boat on the gold vinyl but I suppose you never know... fingers crossed, though to be honest just a copy on black will suit me fine. Love this record. Funny hadnt listened to it for maybe a year or so too and streamed it earlier this evening on spotify. Man if fricken rocks! still! Talk about dynamic changes, inertiatic ESP just sounds so full on. They responded by saying they used a high res transfer of the original masters...didn't really answer my question but we'll see how it turns out haha. Well I suppose we need to look at what the original master was like... in an interview with mix magazine Dave Schiffman (engineer chosen to work with Rick Rubin and Mars Volta on Deloused) said they brought in a vintage neve consol and used high end converters alongside protools at 96k 24bit... This along with the fact that Rick Rubin was involved makes me expect this was a fairly good master. So assuming it is indeed a hig res digital transfer of the actual master and not a bounced down version then we should be able to expect great things from this MOV release. On top of that other than a few releases being a little noisy earlier on in their history, MOV have had a consistently good track record in recent years. Their work on the STP releases along with Mother Love Bone, Mad Season and Alice in Chains are all excellent and if Deloused is as good as those we should be in for a treat. I am a little confused around this extra release though of Deloused thats happening by Mars Volta directly... going to be interesting to see which one is best in the end. circuit bored records
Just a heads up, it looks like soundstagedirect has a 10% coupon code... RSD10 valid until April 21 that you can use for this. About ~38$ shipped to (and from) the US

circuit bored records
RSD 10 didn't work for me. Don't put a space in between RSD and 10? I tested it out just now and it's definitely working.

mikeburns
Im struggling to believe that 3500 copies of deloused on gold have sold out worldwide though (I get the silver was a more limited release but as it was taylored more for the US crowd I would assume the gold wont have sold as big in the US? maybe? cross fingers). Considering mother love bone was 1500 and STP tiny music was 2500 and they were both sought after records globally that commanded pretty big prices in the used market and were all available in their colour variants for a while locally. Im feeling hopeful for gold deloused! This post is really about trying to reassure myself for the next month that I have the gold... which in all honesty due to sleeping on this I probably dont . TigerAndTheDuke
I just got this using the RSD10 code at sound stage direct. Was on the fence for a week, the 10% off made me get it. I wanted the silver but black isn't bad.
mindovermatter
Let's play a ratio game: The number of people in this thread discussing how bad the original pressing sounded versus the number of people in this thread who actually own a copy of the original pressing. Go.
