TheGhostOfRandySavage
Regardless of color, that Plain release sounds god-awful. I also want a Creation pressing. Yeah, I haven't listened to it in probably 8 years or more. I keep thinking I'm going to sell it, just too lazy.
ganit
Man love your list. The company I work for actually has some of the records on it like Mazzy Star's - So Tonight That I Might See: https://www.merchbar.com/merch/195385/mazzy-star-so-tonight-that-i-might-see-ogv-vinyl Check us out, I'd love to help you find albums you're looking for. Personally, my list includes any Jeff Buckley (I know so typical), Otis Redding and for a long time it was the white vinyl pressing of The Promise Ring's Nothing Feels Right but I finally got my hands on that one. briculla05
I didn't realize Danger Doom was so pricey now. I managed to snag Leak Bros for a decent price in the last couple of years.

ganit
I know I obviously need to work on my list! How about Llama Farmers - El Toppo? Now that's a proper White Whale. xadamhudsonx

I'm assuming that this is the Plain press? I stay away from Plain after having two different albums be the worst pressings I've ever heard. They source from low quality digital files (like mp3 or something), have bad pressing practices, and horrible QA. I'll never buy Plain again, even when people try to refute the claims. FangsAnalSatan
Not a true white whale, but I just bought a copy yesterday. Should have it tomorrow in the mail (Monday at the latest). I'm very excited. How'd you get a copy? The bay? Regardless; my post was an attempt at a joke. I think the way people use 'white whale' on this thread is super liberal. I guess I should have used 40oz to Freedom or something.

I think the way people use 'white whale' on this thread is super liberal. I guess I should have used 40oz to Freedom or something. My list is less of a "white whale" list and more of a "list of incredibly hard to find or way too expensive to justify a purchase" albums. My only true "white whale" is the Voyager Golden Record - Sounds Of The Earth. With only eleven copies in existence (two of them in interstellar space) , it is probably never to be owned by the likes of me.
clownbaby
Can we change the title of this thread to "Things I'd Like to Buy"? True. "white whale" is too subjective and misused when referencing collecting. jtcohenour

Boourns
Former white whale: Pulp - Different Class First pressing with the reversible artwork inserts...took several years to find. White whale CD: Bat For Lashes – Who Stole Petretski's Thunder? Don't think it has ever been sold on discogs. Only one user reports owning it. It's complicated: Emmy the Great - Edward EP This one isn't entirely a white whale. i have the EP itself on vinyl, but what I cannot find for the life of me is the Rough Trade pre-order edition, which includes a short story book "The Wet and Windy Moors and other trials by E.L. Moss." Never seen it online anywhere. Readily available, but nowhere near my price range: Warpaint - Exquisite Corpse (on blue vinyl...only a hundred pressed but there's usually one on discogs for an unsurprisingly high price) Beck - Sea Change (this has been pressed three times...its continued scarcity/high price confounds me) White unicorn (doesn't exist but wish it did): Asobi Seksu - s/t cambionic and Eliminator Jr.
