If you can only get rewards once per doing these missions - I wonder if that is character based. If so you can double your chances at certain rewards (or even triple) by having other level 20+ characters. Then just drop the legendaries in the storage and transfer to your main. I may only because as I said I have enough gear to fully deck out a titan or warlock as well as my main. And, the non-specific gear can easily be transferred every time you switch characters.
