Gumbo72203
Black copy is on it's way here, and I might be close to aquiring one of the aqua splatters! This record is just so massive. Still getting into Departure Songs. Have a better grasp on the album now, I just wish it had vocals and some more prominent piano on it. Derek™
Hey, how do you guys feel about the lack of vocals on Departure Songs?
ephemeral
I think the lack of vocals are fine. I feel as if the album would sound out of place if it had vocals
drds89
I think the lack of vocals are fine. I feel as if the album would sound out of place if it had vocals Like YONL, I prefer We Lost The Sea as an instrumental band tbh...
omik11303
Like the others above me, I actually prefer this band sans vocals. I'm all for vocals in post-rock - even the harsh ones - but they were the main turn-off for me in TQPOE, so I think it was a good change of pace. deafening
I listened to maybe two songs from TQPOE and couldn't do it. The vocals were initially off-putting because I listened to Departure Songs first. I've learned to not let vocals not turn me off completely, but the music didn't even make up for it for me. I'm assuming I should push through the whole thing?
Derek™
I was actually just kind of horsing around with the vocals comment, since Gumbo has voiced his thoughts on them 2-3 times so far [no pun intended]. But it is refreshing to read some other opinions on them.
kentin31
I love them with vocals and I love them without. Two different atmospheres and almost two different bands.
pemulis
I love them with vocals and I love them without. Two different atmospheres and almost two different bands. ^^I'm with this guy. Just saw them a month ago or so (maybe two?), and their set was dynamite.
Gumbo72203
I guess I'm the odd man out because I love the vocals. Also, some dude on Discogs said he'd sell me his aqua blue but he seems to be waffling because he doesn't have any mailers. I offered to send him a bunch, and now radio silence. grrrrrrrr!!!!! Some people are so frustrating haha
Gumbo72203
Just got my black copy of "The Quietest Place On Earth" from Grindhead Recs in Australia. Good lord, I hope the rest of you who ordered one specifically asked for the records to be shipped outside of the jacket, otherwise I'm scared to know what shape your jacket will be in. The dude shipped the record in a glorified manilla folder kind of thing, all floppy and taped-together. No cardboard. The plastic sleeve took a beating; it's creased and split 1/4 down the side, as did the corners of the jacket. No seamsplits because he shipped them outside of the jacket, but man... I got the package this morning before I left for work and was like "OH NO'S!!!!" Suuuuuuuuper super nice dude who runs the label, but wowww @ this shipping practice. It's funny how some people value the condition of records, and some people don't.

ganaar7575
My copy of TQPOE came today. Mine was in a cardboard envelope with tape sealing it closed. Opened to find everything in good (not excellent) shape. Just some minor creases but no huge damage to the sleave and the records in great shape. Sleave definitely saved by the 2 records encasing it. Now time to spin this bad boy....
Gumbo72203
You're more forgiving than I if you're calling that cardboard lol.

drds89
on IG they posted a packaging marathon weekend and mailing tomorrow. I'm assuming this is AUS orders, not US.
The Butcha
Listening to this now so I can decide weather to pick this up or not.
cantdance
I picked it up. Pretty steep, but I think it's worth it for the back half alone.

Sad Heart
Listening to this now so I can decide weather to pick this up or not. I already know you liked it. I think I'm going to grab clear at some point since T.L. has it in stock.
Kurazz
Ordered mine off their BC page back in June. Got shipping notification on the 8th so should arrive shortly. Matt Harvey was even kind enough to switch my order to bone instead of clear. Pumped!

Going to grab it when my incoming list dwindles down a little .
