Agreed. I'm not a huge TLSP fan in general - Miles Kane gets on my nerves.

Although ridiculously brief, the sound clip for the new album's trailer (and artwork, etc) has me feeling like this may wind up sounding like a TLSP/AM/Humbug mashup. Lo-fi, orchestral elements perhaps. I just want tons and tons of Matt on drums. And little-to-no falsetto.

I just hope they move away from the hip hop beats.  I love hip hop but the use of hip hop type beats on AM didn't work for me.

Their past 2 albums had some cringe worthy song titles as well.

Like what? The only one I can think of would be "R U Mine?", and even then, it's a great track. Not all that cringeworthy IMO.

Jesus, I had no idea so many disliked these guys. Personally, I feel like they're one of the only "big" bands that haven't completely fallen off and continue to release solid albums.

Were you present for the AM discussion in the VMP thread, by chance?

No, why?

Pretty interesting discussion about the appreciation vs. distaste for the band, depending on what continent you reside on.  (For the most part.)  Entertaining read if you felt like checking out the last couple of pages of the thread.  I expected it to seep into this PO thread, personally.

Calm down there.  Arctic Monkeys are one of my favorite bands.  That doesn't mean they don't have some terrible track names.  "No. 1 Party Anthem" and "Don't Sit Down Cause I've Moved Your Chair" ?

£24 (+£6 postage!) for a single LP = easy pass for me. AM are one of my favourite bands but I'll happily grab a standard black vinyl from a record store for  <£20

edit: the song titles aren't great but they've always been a bit dodgy so we'll wait and see before judging

Yeah I dont know why you guys are freaking out abt the song titles. They've had goofy titles on every single one of their albums lol. Its kind of a running joke for them as a band at this point, I'd say.

I've only listened to their first three albums but they're a band that uses lines from the song as the titles so I don't see how that's meant to be some sort of running joke. I've got an LP where every track title is a Vin Diesel quote; that's a joke hahaha.

Anyone know where Domino ships from?  I have something showing on my Informed Delivery that I have Media Mail from Roseville, CA.  I don't have anything else on order (that I know of) besides this right now.

Edit: Nevermind, I remembered what it was.  Not AM Unfortunately.

Current leak floating around is an off-speed turntable/USB rip. Not awful.

Album is good - more like TLSP (but better instrumentation IMO) but heavy on Turner spoken-wordy, piano ballad-y tunes. Seems like he's completely immersed himself in the piano and John Cooper Clarke and lost interest in guitars. Going to immediately turn off anyone that hopped on their bandwagon during the AM era.

A limited gold edition of the vinyl will be available at the pop up shops. Anyone in NYC wanna do me the favor? Ha

No people who came to this band with AM will like this more than someone who has a fan of the first 3 records

People that came to this band with AM will be far more easily defeated by an album that isn't as immediate or hooky. The majority of those same people are unable to fathom how anyone can even enjoy Humbug.

Is AM hooky for you? I think it's incredible that it has been their best selling album ever, personally i don't find it memorable at all apart from a few songs.
