MisSigsFan
When I told my friend that Deafheaven was black metal if black metal started listening to a shit load of Explosions In the Sky he just responded "uhh wut." It works so well though.
Guest
They have effects on their guitars and songs longer than five minutes, so they must sound like EITS! monsterrod, Ghost_Parlour* and deletedunknown

agreetodisagree
They have effects on their guitars and songs longer than five minutes, so they must sound like EITS! I can sympathize with MisSigsFan. Deafheaven is great but you need a "hook" to get your less adventurous friends to listen sometimes. If your friend's favorite band is City and Colour its gonna go in one ear and out the other when you tell them to listen to a black metal band they've never heard of. seamoney
I mean, the band is kind of post-rocky black metal. At least that's how I've heard plenty of other people describe it. Seems like a pretty fair suggestion!
parkinglot
I don't see how this is explosions in the sky-ish. There's heavy distortion throughout, hence the metal tag. The songs are long I guess, and there are "climaxes". I do get a Blaise Bailey Finnegan III vibe from windows though, but that just cause of the dude talking. Ghost_Parlour*
Whatever happened to just awesome music? For shits sake guys.
birdturbo
Irresistible felt a little like EITS, but that was about it. But I don't remember the last time a record came out and so many people argued about what genre it was. It's gotten sorta ridiculous. Let's just enjoy it, okay guys? paintedinexile
I remember seeing a legitimate fist fight between two people arguing over which genre a band was at a show once. It was equally sad, and amusing. Ghost_Parlour*

drds89
So apparently this pic is making the rounds over on Instagram and Tumblr. Not sure how I feel about this. not me, not me (seriously, though it is a cool conflation per previous post). Are you getting in trouble re: copyright infringements or anything? davepriz
for everybody that has had their mind blown by a band mixing post rock and black metal you should check out the last Wolves In The Throne Room LP
radiatorhums
for everybody that has had their mind blown by a band mixing post rock and black metal you should check out the last Wolves In The Throne Room LP Two Hunters would be a good start as well. anchorlessbodies
for everybody that has had their mind blown by a band mixing post rock and black metal you should check out the last Wolves In The Throne Room LP Or the S/T and neon from Lantlos would be a perfect choice as well. Both are incredibly good. Also, deafheaven has nothing to do with Burzum.
