I know it doesn't really matter, I was just curious about it.

Without knowing the actual reason, I would guess that the handful of people that had a hand in this didn't give a shit about the quality because they knew it was going to sell regardless. This is a major label we are talking about here, they didn't press these because they wanted 2,700 more people to be able to hear it, they did it so 2,700 more copies would be sold. And if it happened to even be noticed when test presses were approved they probably didn't want to spend the money to fix it at that point.

So I picked up my copies of EOTS the other day, and I'm listening to it for the first time now, I barely noticed the edit. And I don't know what you guys mean by it being a sloppy edit. It sounds just like it did on the edited version of the CD

I just looked back at the OP and it has both dude ranch and greatest hits listed for the same day.. Is that still accurate?
