i see Juno UK is listing a "red" edition as forthcoming. hoping that means Kanine is gonna keep this one in print with a larger, non-exclusive run down the line...

Similar deal. Plus last time I saw them they seemed as if they’d rather been anywhere else. Skipping this tour.

ptothedo reacted to twatay in Isis reunion/Caleb Scofield benefit Saturday - who's in?
Was there. It was fucking awesome overall. Just now seeing this thread.
OMG's set became epic about half way through I remember thinking and didn't let up. Pelican came out and destroyed, I'm very much looking forward to their new album next year. Isis...what else is there to say...it was great seeing them perform again. Cliff's solo at the end of So Did We melted my brain. Same with the Celestial extended ending. Cave In were great as well. Actually ended up leaving before Zozobra went on...big mistake since Bannon came out and sang vocals. Hanging out in the lounge/bar area I ran into Danny Carey a couple times. That was cool. Dude's a giant.
The only downside were the drink prices!! $17 for a beer, granted it was a huge beer but still.

I got S/T on Thursday and it sounds awesome. It keeps reminding me why I think its the best album they've done.

To me, AM is just so un-interesting. It's got some good songs on it but i don't really dig the sound they were going for. Some of the songs are just flat out boring.

What do you think is happening at DWHQ? I'd be surprised if they employed a person whose sole job it is to determine whose preorder has the most Converge or DW-releases to their discogs. Yet if they don't, how can you be disappointed in them? Do you except them to remember you? Few copies are randomly inserted into preorders, so yeah, be disappointed that the odds didn't go your way, fair enough, but you seem to act as if they've done you a disservice in some way. Owning a near complete Converge collection doesn't make you friends. Or family.

Got my box in from DWRC today and this album is just blowing my mind. Packaging is fantastic and the booklet is a really nice touch. Was extremely, extremely fortunate to be given a Friends and Family variant so many thanks to the Deathwish crew and Jake or whoever determines who is lucky enough to be gifted one of these gems! I honestly jumped in the air and squealed like a little kid when I realized what it was!

ptothedo reacted to rcafilm in PO Now: Interpol - Our Love To Admire (10th ann'y repress)
Just got my copy in. Comparing it to the original press for fun. Artwork/layout are almost completely identical, minus the legalese and logos. The jacket and sleeves on the original press are noticeably higher contrast/saturation than the new pressing, curious if that was intentional or just a printing difference. The sleeves on the OP also had one top shorter than the other for record removal, whereas the new sleeves have even tops. When it comes to the records themselves, the new 180g pressing is obviously thicker. Labels do not suffer the contrast discrepancy.
As far as the sound, I've only had a chance to listen to the first disc, but wow. This is how this record was meant to sound. The range is there, the detail is there, it's quiet, the atrocious distortion is all but gone. I say "all but gone" because to my ears the latter half of The Scale did not sound up to par with the beginning of Pioneer, but it's still totally listenable. The rest of the experience so far has been stellar. The bass on Pioneer is thunderous. Heinrich Maneuver comes in sounding punchy as hell. Guitars sound accurate and drums tend to leap out at you. Playing this record for someone will get you laid.
