thetrackt got a reaction from Skacel in Vagrant 25 Years Vinyl Represses
Great question! Around the time this came out my friend worked at Doghouse who was like tight with Vagrant people. He gave me a cdr of the demos like in the early 2000s but I can’t find it.
They’ve gotta be on the internet somewhere I’ll see if I can track down! They are just really great, like unpolished versions of the tunes. I personally always loved this LP and I actually attribute it to being a little sloppy and part of that is Skibas vocals.

Scattered is a great word, that's what I was trying to convey. I know the feeling well, from my own drug use past. I can relate to it, and I feel that's why I can see through the NB writing a little bit into what it was like to be in their shoes. It's not a fun place, and I'm forever grateful to be well beyond that bullshit.
I suppose I can understand the transitional sentiment, but i love the experimentation and having George screaming over the happy parts. I think what solidifies it for me is that the melodies are solid. The writing is solid, hooky, and delivers. They got REALLY good at writing chord progressions. I also play in a psychedelic jam rock band, so perhaps I can attach myself to the traditional chord changes they use in the alt-rock sections.
Yeah i'm gonna throw it on again soon, it's funny how sometimes my perspective shifts on an album when I give it a lot of time to grow.
For instance, I had a *BIG* problem with the latest Spurv record. I didn't like it. I wanted Skarntyde again. Same with the last 2 PG.Lost records. The style shifts bugged me, because I couldn't really connect the development in any way to previous releases. I imagine this is how Opeth fans feel now. I'm glad i stepped off that train when I was young. I got to see them a few times from 2002-2004 when they were at their peak, and it was wonderful.
But I threw "Myra" on in the car a few weeks ago, and I suddenly could hear where they were harkening back to the old sound, and I appreciated it a lot more. It's good. I prefer their first 2 albums still over Myra, but I was unduly harsh I think. Not sure I'll ever feel that way about Versus and Oscillate with PG.Lost though haha, Yes I Am through Key is just.... too good.
Anyway, Deafheaven is a good band and I'm glad we have the opportunity to keep talking about them here

Hmm I just checked out with the color in color after like 10 tries... imo best variant.
Seems the site is having tech issues but keep trying as it appears they are still in stock.

The opener gets stronger for me with every listen. Definitely a dreary tune, but it's kind of like a feeling of "slow awakening" to the album, for me. They opened with it on their live stream last night and it was great! The harmonizing with Doyle was so good. Love the lyrics too.

Oh hell yeah! Ahhh nah, it’s all good.
I had asked the person selling it what condition the jacket was in, when they put it up, about 6 weeks ago, and I had that much time to jump on it. They didn’t respond and I didn’t want a funky copy for $60. Plus I didn’t really have too
much money to splurge. But I came into some cash this week, checked it out last night, and was too drunk to pull the trigger. Glad you came up. It’ll show up on Discogs or eBay about 1-3 times a year, from anywhere from. $25-$80. I’ll get it one day haha

thetrackt reacted to beardacus in PO Now: Green Day - Father Of All Motherfuckers
Personally, this album is a blast. Whomever said this was a tight fun record nailed it. Is it Green Day’s best record? Nah, far from it. But it great record to blast while driving. People need to stop complaining about every little thing these days that isn’t to their liking. The band’s over 30 years old at this point, they can do what every they want to do. “I’m an LEGIT fan, I ONLY like the ‘old’ records.” Get over yourself.

1 track each off the Mare Cognitum /Spectral lore album for streaming:

Kinda wish I didn't listen though, now seriously considering paying the $100ish it will cost me to pick this up 🤔 The Mare Cognitum is a BM banger, the Spectral Lore throwing some funeral doom vibes around.

I think I can safely post a list now! I'm too wishy-washy to rank these albums based on merit and I love all of them (maybe some more than others, but they've all gotten their fair share of plays), so here is an alphabetical list of my 15 favorite releases of 2019, complete with listening links and visual accompaniment.

Its a quality release 180g in poly sleeves in nice Plastic inners. Box is sturdy and printed with a neat texture. I can see how its $80, but I can also see how people probably don't think its worth that. Its a great release. I'd love for the other soundtracks to be expanded and done up like this.
