Just rearranged my room for better acoustics and upgraded all components in the past few months. 
ProJect Perspective TT w/ ADC XLM MK II Improved Gold cartridge 
AMC 3050a (made by ex-NAD engineers and very similar to NAD) preamp into an Onkyo TX-8270 receiver which has several nice modern features like lossless streaming from any music service or networked drive. 
Q Acoustics 3050i speakers which I am obsessed with. 

I think you can start collecting no matter what your preferences are. One thing vinyl has done for me has expanded my tastes, and introduced me to new things. Browsing here and reddit (r/vinyl) and following vinyl-centered instagram accounts and reading comments and reviews has led to me listening to new things. As well as shopping in store- you'll see something that looks cool and throw it on their demo setup and end up bringing it home. 
 
Expanding a bit on Derek's advice-- If you want to enjoy the hobby definitely focus on setup first. It's easy to want to skimp on your first bit of gear and spend the $ on records, but consider the fact that if you can get a good quality TT, amp/receiver, and speakers together, you'll enjoy each and every record even more, and maintain them more easily. A lot of people spend $100 on a Crosley or LP60 and then have trouble playing some of their albums due to poor construction on the cheapie tables. The ceramic stylus common to those turntables wears down quickly and starts damaging your records. Furthermore, if you buy just 10 new albums and that's at least $200 into the hobby, much more than some people pay for their first TT. 
 
What I'd do is check your local craigslist, as well as USAudioMart, or any stores near you for some good vintage gear that's been cared for and runs smooth. Quality and performance of that stuff will far outweigh new gear at the same price point. If you can save up $300-500 for your first setup, it'll be several years before you'll consider upgrading. Found my S/T in Kansas City a few years ago for $20 still sealed. Almost needed a change of pants after that. It's a great sounding pressing. Paid $60 for my blue vinyl BSL 3 years ago from ebay, and was lucky to grab the reissue on RSD.
I talked to Rob & Zach after some shows in Chicago last year, about reissues. They said the owner of Ace Fu is a jackass and won't do a pressing of anything unless he'll profit immediately like RSD releases. So don't expect another run of S/T or BSL for a while I guess.

The real question is how many minutes into the new album will Billy use the word "lover"? On Ogilala it was about 12 minutes. 

It's the new proper analog reissue. I ain't no fool.

Why guilty pleasures? They're stellar albums, especially Parachutes.

Heads up to anyone who appreciates these guys' early work, Barnes & Noble has a limited white pressing online and in stores. Parlophone pressing and it sounds fantastic (listening as I type this). 2 years ago they did Parachutes on orange, it's now $150+ on the secondhand market, I'm glad I grabbed it when I did so grab this one before it's gone and on ebay. The store by me only had 1 in stock.

Update: I have actually now tried two copies of this to verify it's a pressing defect, and indeed, both have a loud scratch sound in the left channel at the beginning of Daylight, and two on Warning Sign as well, one at the beginning and one towards the end. Overall the sound is very very nice, but there are those small defects.  At the time of writing this post I was still on side A which has no problems. 
 
I'm still keeping one,  but if anyone wants the 2nd, PM me and I'll sell to you at cost ($22 + $4 for media mail shipping). If I bring it back to the store I'm not sure what they do with it. It's still worth someone having and playing it for sure.
