Some users, not all, on VMP are relatively new to digging into music. It's tempting to poke fun at the mix of enthusiasm and lack of knowledge but, IMO, it's also very cool that more people are diving into the insane treasure hunt that is working backwards into the history of rock/hip hop/modern music. We all start somewhere and, after 22 years of collecting music, there are well known bands/genres I'm still naive towards. I didn't really get into Talking Heads until last year, I have zero knowledge of Jazz, etc. I tend to keep quiet about genres/bands I am barely getting to know while maybe some VMP posters can be more quick to assume the role of expert but I think that's just, as I said, the enthusiasm. Also, I consider myself a very young 31 year old man but I have to remember that still means I might have 13 years of more music listening on some other adults. Anyway, thanks for reading my novel.

Leftovers scratches some of the 'weirdness happening in a small town' itch but be warned that it focuses more on relationships than Twin Peaks and is more grounded (outside of the bizarre pieces). But it gets very fun and funny season 2 onward and the series ends beautifully. It is probably my favorite show period.

I think he meant a transitional record between OKC and Kid A in the vein of those OKC b-sides. Not instead of Kid A

    My list would be:

The Leftovers (keep watching past season 1, season 1 is OK to frustrating, season 2 and 3 are awesome and pretty funny too)
    Westworld
GLOW (not on the same dude-bro wavelength as the above shows but I really liked the ensemble cast and it's been my favorite Netflix show)
    Game of Thrones

At least one of us has received their Ratboys (check out the specific thread for that album) and they got an exclusive /20 variant. I don't recall seeing a shipping notification for mine and I'm out of town so I have no idea if it's come in or not.

I want to say Flood of Asbestos Records said something to this effect on this very message board: he was interested in pressing their early back catalog, the entire band was on board, but it was around the time that Yo Gabba Gabba was blowing up and whatever entertainment lawyer nerds own their catalog wouldn't license it out because they thought they could make bank doing it themselves.

Honestly, I would settle for a pressing of Charge!! It's their best album, and Nitro might be more willing to play ball.

    Edit: found it

Oblivions got a reaction from copelandkid in PO: The National - Sleep Well Beast
Because they are the National, they dipped their toe into that sappy arena ballad pool and knew better than to keep going down that road but, for any other band, a song like Vanderlyle or England is the pre-cursor to having a college marching band on stage with you for your encore and the lead singer wearing a band leader costume or like a cape. Thanks to some course correction with Trouble Will Find Me, the songs are fine and just minor blips of concern to some fans and not the glaring beginning of the band's descent into persona self-parody. The slow ballads before and after High Violet are all aces (About Today, I Need My Girl, this new one...I didn't dig Heavenfaced but it's not as bombastic or anthemic so I just let it pass when it plays).

Every time I hear a slow National song and it's amazing and layered and perfectly arranged, instead of a slow, plodding mess like Runaway or a bombastic, saccharine U2/Coldplay anthem like Vanderlyle or England, I bow my head and say a prayer of thanks to the American Mary gods. Guilty Party is spot on and has me pumped for Sleep Well Beast.

This post is funny because I've heard the song at least 3 or 4 times while watching Rays games in the past month.

Hmm.  Not really.  Muscle & Bone is really the only emo band I've worked with.  I may have one of their tapes around somewhere.  I have both their LPs.  A good amount of the bands are more rock or poppy like The Kids' Crusade, Family Cat, Sundale, Crosseyed, Man The Change, Colour Me Wednesday, and the two Pizza Underground tapes.. So there's a decent amount that aren't heavy at all but not a lot of emo emo.

It's good to know that Lynch has added an extra layer of confusing elements beyond those I can actually catch with my eye balls and ears.

Feels way too on the nose for a first clue, unless they've given up trying to pretend they aren't repressing Fever.

Just got mine in earlier today and I decided to make an unboxing video, for those who are still waiting for theirs and want an idea of what to expect. I uploaded it to Youtube.

    Do as stated above.
Note that, if the seller selects the "return and refund" option, PayPal will require you to return the record and you'll have to pay the return shipping yourself. PayPal doesn't force sellers to pay the return shipping. So, be aware of that and don't get distracted from your original goal by having a meltdown toward PayPal.
The good news is PayPal has an opt-in service where they'll cover up to $30 worth of shipping on returns for items you purchased using PayPal. Go here to opt in and learn more: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/returns

If this was $29.98, I'd get it even though I own the MOV pressing. $45 is too steep for a domestic release of which I already own the main songs.
