mikeytags got a reaction from jhulud in PO Now: HALSEY - If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power LP (Produced by NIN) - out on 8/27
it was... interesting. very dark. lots of boobies. if you've seen the trailers and the album art you've got a good idea of the tone. the music is perfect for the vibe she's going for. i appreciate that she has an artistic vision and she must have carried it out and filmed it throughout her pregnancy. i'm curious to see how the album is going to stand up without the film. i'm pretty sure they only used parts of songs and not full songs. there was some spoken dialog and some interludes. i'm trying not to spoil it too much... it reminds me a lot of Hopeless Fountain Kingdom. The videos really helped the concept for that album, but I didn't like it as much on its own. Was a much bigger fan of the last album.

mikeytags reacted to rooks in WTB: Looking for Sealed Grace Slick – Manhole (1973)
Normally I would post something very snarky and sarcastic, but you seem genuine.
Here are 109 copies of the original 1973 LP for sale, you can filter to the sleeve/media condition you want: https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/1535314?ev=rb
I doubt you find a sealed copy of a 1973 record in 2021, but you may have more luck with the 2012 re-press: https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/6349419?ev=rb
I hate how helpful I've been.

mikeytags got a reaction from copelandkid in PO NOW: 100 gecs - 1000 gecs
I don't often pay too much attention to Pitchfork reviews, but I think the way they summed up this album in their best of 2019 list (#42) is perfect...
The thrill of 1000 gecs isn’t just the post-internet omnivorousness with which it connects its various reference points, but how profoundly dumb it is.

yeah, the back of the insert says to run it at 45rpm, and watch through the camera on your phone under a bright light. I tried that, and still couldn't get it to work :-/

Introducing QROOVE (pronounced "groove", inexplicably spelled with a Q), a new listening platform that delivers an innovative vinyl experience with a modern ease of use and a visually-strong design and marketing aesthetic. Each month, a dedicated member of our QROOVE QREW (pronounced "groove crew", for some reason the second Q is now annunciated as a Q) curates one new hand-picked vinyl album-of-the-month subscription for you, selecting from companies like VNYL, Vinyl Me Please, QRATE, Vinyl Moon, Delicious Vinyl, The Drop, VinylLoop, and other vinyl subscription services. This month's album-of-the-month vinyl subscription service is REQORD (pronounced "re-que-ord", just roll with it), a new listening platform that delivers an innovative vinyl experience with a modern ease of use and a visually-strong design and marketing aesthetic. Each month, a dedicated member of their REQORD SQUAD (pronounced "re-que-ord s-que-AH-dee") curates 12 of your top iPhone voice memos as voted on by the RQORD QMMUNITY (pronunciation unknown at this time) and presses them on to heavy virgin vinyl. Note: The FKA Twigs and Vampire Weekend albums shown in the graphic below are for educational purposes only and will not, at any time, be a part of any vinyl subscription service you ever sign up for, whether it's this or any other service.
