Shoegaze/Dream Pop Thread

Recommended Posts

SlyVinyl will be releasing 'Small Hours' by Hazy Mountains on Oct. 1 @ 9AM PST at store.slyvinyl.com

This release has it's own thread, but I figured it was worth cross-posting here as the artist describes the release as:
"Dream Pop but with a lot of Electronic elements and influences of Synthpop and Shoegaze"

Kindling has a new LP in November "Hush" - first track released Destroy Yrself just knocks it out of the park again - no earbuds, just iPhone as Barracuda filter here at work. This band is on fire!

Kindling: Hush

New Generation EP in February 2017, and last August 2016- Everywhere Else LP and split with Kestrels this year as well.

Also, Iris S/T (reformed, new vocalist, bass and drummer) EP is getting wax treatment and will go up Friday at Backpack Records, where their cassettes were released, and also a UK label I'm not familiar with: Dog Knights Productions

Looks like it's already up:

Iris: Iris EP - 13 Euro

Really kicking myself for passing on Slowdive this year. 4 hr drive one way, mid week, work was crazy. Maybe will be able to catch Ride, fingers crossed.

edit:  links added above now I'm home, and I forgot the new 93millionmilesfromthesun EP. The 15 minute track is by far my favorite

Victory Is Ours EP

received the new Iris 12" via Backpack Records. The swirl variant is super neat. Highly recommended for any fan of old Whirr, but I want to say that Iris' sound has evolved far beyond that since the debut 10".

I got the tape a while back and loved it.  Kind of want to grab the 12" too...  I do agree with you that the sound has changed, but it's still quite good!

sorry if that didn't come across, but I love the sound. I've liked their sound early on (purchased the 10" together with the new record), but this new stuff is just a bit more distinct and individual.

Sorry if this was posted already, but there's a LACING full length out.  I'm listening to it now and enjoying it a fair amount.  I know some other folks in here liked the CS they released.

Sounds like proper late 90's throwback. Loud and dirty. Thanks. I might just snag a copy up. EDIT: Bought a copy. Hope they blow up someday.

pretty sure UK band Lull has been talked about before here, but they finally put out their first vinyl release. 4-song 12" called Sea Change and it is really fucking good. no us distribution, but there are copies on amazon uk. best part is, it was only $15.12ppd to the US. limited to only 250 copies.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B076B9WSMJ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 =$15.12ppd

Pinkshinyultrablast -In The Hanging Gardens 10" on Club AC30 (and Shelflife, so US folks don't have to wait for Norman Records to get decent shipping price, but I wonder if Norman will stilll beat Shelflife by a buck or two)

500 copies on heavyweight translucent pink with orange streaks "Rose Sunshine"

Club AC30 - 15 GBP + ship

Shelflife - $20 + ship

Brutal Friday on the wallet - good thing RSD BF is another pass this year.

Not going for Athletics??

Not if a 7" or lathe. I have maybe a  dozen 7's I actually listen to.  WTR, WTH are solid tracks, but I won't likely spin them.

If it's a regular vinyl 10" or 12" with more new music, then I would definitely reconsider!

My lathes from ITC have been hit&miss - I sold several of the decent sounding ones in good conscience, including Athletics acoustic, VIS, Vasudeva and TPOS. The others I do listen to but there is greater than average noise (Mohican and Delft get the most spins).

One of my favorite shoegaze / feedback bands is Dead Leaf Echo from Brooklyn.

They are taking pre-orders for their new album.  Only 150 vinyl offered, in colored vinyl:  $17.99 plus shipping in USA.

Dead Leaf Echo - Beyond Desire pre-order

I see they actually made 2 different colored vinyl Lps.  Both are still available but nearly sold out.  I really like this band and this album.

only $31 shipped...5.50 shipping not bad. I think its the same version on bandcamp, i cant see why they would have two different clear green variants. that one is $37 shipped to the US

Re: Swirlpool

Yes, indeed an awesome single and really nice guys, too! They are from Regensburg, Germany, and their debut EP is due out this spring. I've already listened to it and it's a real banger, I'll definitely post here once it is released. Some of the best music out of Germany I've come across in recent years. Also stoked that my band is going to do a little touring with these guys over here in the summer :-)

talk about German shoegaze. Here's another great band which has just released their sophomore LP, "Ringthing".

While grounded in "rock" guitar work in general, they lean heavily towards synth- and dream pop oftentimes, so this should also appeal to fans of bands like The Pains of Being Pure At Heart or also the last Death of Lovers record. You should definitely check it out, the opener alone should be worth it!

I don't know how to embed the bandcamp player, so just take this hyperlink:

Strong work Jonathan, definitely on this - have to gamble on them!

@mrewest I'm trying not to bankrupt you, and you're finding a lot on your own.
