steventangent
I guess I'm the only one that thought Don Jon was a pretty good flick, considering the subject matter.
mitch.
I guess I'm the only one that thought Don Jon was a pretty good flick, considering the subject matter. I didn't mind Don Jon, it was amusing in parts. I watched the Carrie remake the other night, it was ok. I without a doubt prefer the original. I didn't think it was great and probably wouldn't watch it again, but it made me laugh a fair amount.
steventangent
I've thought before about how the proliferation of pornography over the last couple of decades has changed sexual mores. It's an unusual and interesting subject for a flick to tackle, while also trying to stay entertaining. Also had a lot of interesting directorial choices. I'll definitely be interested to see what he does next.

I'm sure there are a few little nuances to what is legal porn filming as well, but for the most part, it's true.

It is illegal to film porn every state except Nevada, California (and two or three others I can't remember) though. But the point is still valid. swisherprice
I'm currently watching the last episode of Series 3 of Luther. I am frustrated, nervous, sad, and I am pacing watching it. This show is so damn good! Idris Elba is a badass!
WalnutSoap
I'm currently watching the last episode of Series 3 of Luther. I am frustrated, nervous, sad, and I am pacing watching it. This show is so damn good! Idris Elba is a badass! In my opinion, Luther is the closest the BBC has ever got to something resembling Breaking Bad. I don't really like much of what my country puts out on TV nowadays, but I would recommend Luther to anyone.
Brock N Roll
Watched Flight today. I've never been a big Denzel fan but I really really enjoyed this. John Goodman is great as well in his limited role
radiatorhums
Blew through a bunch of stuff over the last few days (trying to clear up a back log of shit I've been meaning to watch) Shutter Island - Really liked it, but I don't feel like I missed out on anything watching it 5 years after the fact. Enough Said - Good, but fairly predictable. Gandolfini was excellent and it was nice to see him play a role that's a little out of his wheelhouse. I Declare War - keepdoubting mentioned this and it sounded interesting. I feel like it would have worked better as a 45 minute short film or something, but overall it wasn't bad. Bellflower - Friend recommended this. I liked it initially, but then it seems to hit a style over substance snag. Body Bags - Not the best thing John Carpenter has been attached too, not the worst. Going out with a buddy tonight, probably going to come home with a bit of a buzz and watch Bad Grandpa.

Definitely style over substance though. The writer/director definitely shows a lot of potential since it's just his first feature. He also built his own camera to shoot the movie which is pretty awesome.

That is pretty awesome, although not as awesome as building a flame thrower! There was a lot I liked about the movie, especially the first half. I'm looking forward to what he does next for sure. I really dug the awkward/clumsy dialogue and the characters interactions.

He built the flame thrower too. And the car. He basically did everything on the movie.

Twistedshabazz
Just finished elysium. Anyone else kinda let down by this? The end battle scenes were pretty cool visually but the whole theme they were tryinf to get across and the plot was just kinda blah to me. circuit bored records
I went and saw Her today some parts were very very cheesy but i thought it was a good movie regardless Saw this also today, and I absolutely fucking loved it. I recommend it if you are a fan of Spike Jonze's other films. I also really loved the ambient soundtrack throughout. I normally can't stand Arcade Fire but I will buy the OST in a heartbeat if it gets released.
radiatorhums
I watched A.C.O.D. earlier today. It was decent, but overall forgettable. Based on the cast and what marketing I'd seen, I expected it to be more of a flat out comedy, but it felt more like a lite drama than anything. kyacrash
Saw The Wolf of Wall Street today, excellent flick. Scorsese has always been my favorite director, and he clearly hasn't lost a step. Dicaprio gave a great performance as well.
