dreamover
i understand they wanted to update it, but it looks very generic to me.
BuzzersonKillwell
Hard to say, flat and gradients are in but it seems a little reactive for Apple, and honestly, a little bit a lot like Windows Metro UI. But, I'm guessing it'll get a performance bump since the UI seems to be cleaner and simpler. I'll have to see it in motion and get used to it. My knee jerk reaction is that is isn't great. batman
is it possible to be too minimal?
dreamover
i really don't like how that looks. looks like a chinese rip-off of a smart phone. Though I like the functionality.

BuzzersonKillwell
is it possible to be too minimal? No, but it is possible to execute "minimal" poorly. On one hand, it is sort of an objective pursuit. Minimal, in the context of design, is generally assumed to mean that the result has removed all non-essetial features, functions and design elements. But, and here is where it gets a little subjective, it is totally possible to make all the "essential" components look like shit.
abovetheearth
the 'traditional' glossy app/icon image design are gone....it was only a matter of time.

dreamover
I think some of the new functionality will be fantastic. Just not sold on the design yet. I love simplistic design, but this just seems so generic and beta-like. This is a great way to get a look at how it will all work: http://www.apple.com/ios/ios7/
dantheriver
....am I the only one that thinks it looks really cool? No you are just the first iphone user to post. I won't lie I want to jump ship, but I'm not due for an update for a while (iphone 5 owner). I will gladly take these new upgrades for the duration of my sentence. The new "flat" look... I could care less, it doesn't change how I will use my phone for the next year or so. The "command center" is a 4 year overdue feature that I gladly welcome. Non-iOS users are obviously going to continue to hate... we get it, you already won because you don't use the iphone. Cool it.
elgato48
Hate the way it looks. Hopefully it won't function the way it looks

3arl
Yeah I like it quite a bit. Definitely excited for it to be released. I'm glad Apple is pushing things and not just keeping the Jons status quo.

tides
It was definitely time for a redesign. Some of the new icons seem silly and too colorful but if you ignore them it's not all that bad. Overall I like it and I'm very excited to see what it has to offer. Wish it was coming sooner though.
thekitsch
I think iOS 7 looks great. A welcome change in my opinion. It's a great jumping off point for custom themes (on jailbroken devices). I'm sure they'll have an option with toned down colors.
