shamrocks got a reaction from Chrundle The Great in Shoegaze/Dream Pop Thread
thats cool and all but youre about 40 years too late on that. i havent listened to the track but i bet it sounds like most SG which makes half the people on here dizzy and the other half angry
some of the best music of this century has been made with a keyboard and a hard drive
(edit: not even that kind of keyboard)

(from 2013)
to this (Technics 1500C, TT, Willsenton R8 integrated tube amp, KLH Model 5 speakers). Different room too. Im pretty pleased

shamrocks got a reaction from TimeToMoveOn in Opinions On Vevor Ultrasonic Cleaner For Vinyl
$200 isnt a huge gamble, I spent $600 on one about 8 years ago that wasnt motorized and overall should have just bought a VPI. I would not buy another machine designed for a different purpose that was modified to clean vinyl, but thats just my experience. Also looks like there are some smaller ones that clean 4 records at a time for about 160, probably worth it as long as you can rinse them and arent expecting too much

I know its not the site for it but the Zach Bryan - American Heartbreak is wonderful. I lumped it in with bro-country and its really good Americana with callbacks to some of the classic country artists as well. It will be in my top 5 with Lenderman, Soccer Mommy, Mitski, Alvvays

Blushing - Posessions
Pike Vs. The Automaton
Grivo - Omit
Beach House - Once Twice Melody
Pedro the Lion - Havasu
Vince Staples - Ramona Park Broke My Heart
Haven't listened to the new Pusha T or Tomberlin albums but I'd guess those make the list.
Honestly haven't been listening to a ton of new music lately anyway.
New Conan album comes out in August, judging by the singles I'll like it a lot. New Built to Spill, Holy Fawn and Tim Kasher likely make the cut, and I enjoyed the new onelinedrawing and Anthony Green albums but maybe not enough to hit the best of list.
DIDN'T like the new Father John Misty album, and surprisingly didn't really care for Dawn FM either.

Ive only got about 20 hours on the Technics and I made massive speaker and amp upgrades so hard to tell actual difference. i figured if i went with a Rega or some other belt drive option i would never again try a direct drive so wanted to give it a shot. No deficits though and its sturdy and sounds great

yeah i wanted to move to a direct drive. ive loved my TT15 but my son accidentally broke the stylus on the clearaudio cart shortly after i bought it and it was too much to get a new one so I bought a Grado Gold (still great) and enjoyed it fine. Very aesthetically pleasing as well, just wanted to make a change. Also, a bit finicky with the motor position, occasionally would get a little too close to the body and would make a hum (there is a hole cut in the chassis that fits over the motor but not to touch it - like a game of operation). not a deal breaker just something that annoyed me

shamrocks reacted to hoytis in should I upgrade/change my setup? any recs
That's all stellar equipment. But if I was looking for a different setup, I would be looking at going in the opposite direction in terms of builds. If not, it's just a lateral move. Meaning, I'd look at direct drive decks (like Technics SL-1500C) with a moving coil cartridge (like AT33Sa). Then check out options for integrated tube amps (so many great ones out there). Klipsch would be fun to check out. I would just try something that has bigger bass drivers than the 5" on BP8s...like Wharfedale Lintons or KLH Model 5.
Fun, fun! I'm jealous. Enjoy the ride.
