  1. This guys haven't been good since Destroy to Create (and like 3/4 of the Great Awake), which is a shame because they used to be really fucking good. Those new singles are awful though, wow.
  2. She's signed to a label in France, IIRC. And $30-35 is pretty standard pricing for a 2xLP in Canada nowadays.
  3. That Dine Alone splatter looks beautiful with the artwork but $40 is quite a stretch. Still, excited to hear that this band is back and making music again. One of the more underrated Montreal bands but they consistently put out great albums.
  4. If you're looking for a simplified setup, you could also go with the ADL GT40 (or the GT40A, newer). I've had it for two years now and it's definitely an impressive all-in-one amp/DAC/ADC. For reference, my setup is currently: Music Hall mmf 2.2 w/Nagaoka Mp-110 cartridge > ADL GT40 (old version) > Audeze LCD 2.2 or Audioengine A5+ For the price, I really don't think you can beat its performance and versatility.
  5. For the folks who missed out on the first run, Sonic Pieces is re-pressing Moon Ate the Dark's I+II on clear and black vinyl (clear is out of 200). It's not the same packaging as the first edition but still totally worth it considering the first run sold out real quick. If you haven't heard these albums yet, I'd hiiiiiiiiiighly recommend doing so. http://sonicpieces.bigcartel.com/product/moon-ate-the-dark-moon-ate-the-dark-i-ii-2nd-edition-2lp Also available from boomkat but the clear is already sold out.
  6. Somebody from Toronto be nice to your strange French neighbour and send me over a copy.......please
  7. Fuck....I love Sonic Pieces but I already bought the first pressings on black Really nice packaging as usual, though. And it's cool that Nils' dad took the photos for the album art (at least for the second one).
  8. I felt the same after leaving photography school. I didn't shoot for about two years because all my inspiration was sucked dry and it became tedious just like any other job. Luckily, I've found the time to get out more these days and shoot with some friends. I also find traveling or exploring helps. Also, a fellow Pentax shooter! That makes two of us, haha. The K100D was my first digital SLR and now I shoot with a K7 and a Fuji x100s. As much as I love the Fuji, I'm locked into the Pentax system because it's the best value my money can buy and there are so many APSC lenses on the used market. But my dad has the K20D and still uses it frequently, it's a pretty capable little camera! You should definitely try and find time to post stuff here. This thread isn't nearly as active as it should be.
  9. They're currently in Berlin, so the tweet for Eau Claire was about some album release party/event at that intersection. Apparently they were handing out newspaper-like clippings with similar art to the album art and stuff like that. They also played a show at a hotel in Berlin. That's fucking absurd.
  10. I'm confused. I can add the limited edition PO for the blue variant to my cart but everyone's saying it's sold out. Does it only notify you once you've finished the order or what?
  11. Never heard of Gas/Wolfgang Voigt but quickly listened to a few clips on youtube and I am floored. Thanks for this!!
  12. Never heard of Gas/Wolfgang Voigt but quickly listened to a few clips on youtube and I am floored. Thanks for this!!
  13. Hahahaha, that's true. But still the best part of ordering from them! Side note, American Football's album art is infuriating. Is there a reason behind the "Americ.....................anfootball" thing?
  14. These are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay overdone IMO. The saturation levels are completely unnatural and the halo-effect makes it look too obvious that these are all heavily post-processed. By all means, if you like it, keep doing you but the images you posted on the previous page were much better. Do you shoot in RAW? I feel like if you properly exposed all of these images and just tweaked them a little bit in Camera Raw (or whichever software you use), you'd have more interesting results. Just my two cents.
  15. I'm from Montreal but every time I'm in Ottawa (three or four times a year) I always stop by Vertigo Records on Rideau and The Record Centre on Wellington. I've found some interesting stuff in the used bins at Vertigo. There's also The Turning Point but I'm not a huge fan of their selection. It's also pretty cramped so I'm not sure how comfortable you'd be if your wife and two kids were there as well. As for Airbnb's, can't help you there as I usually only go for the day. Enjoy your trip!
  16. Just read through this entire thread and I am blown away. I really respect teachers like you and I'm certain all these kids appreciate everything you're doing for them. They might not realize it now but they will - I'm sure of it. Plus, Explosions in the Sky are phenomenal and it's always nice to get kids listening to some more "alternative" music once in awhile. I remember in high school I had an English teacher who used to encourage us to read books like A Clockwork Orange (even though the school's principal was seriously against it) and watch films like the Seventh Seal and Les 400 Coups. It really helped me start enjoying school, and I was always very excited to write and talk about whatever we were reading/watching that week. Some times she would let us bring in music to play for the class so we could have a discussion about it. No other teachers would allow students to express any sort of creativity or interest in the arts. Two years later at graduation, that same teacher handed me the English award and an envelope with a letter. In the letter, she thanked me for "bringing an eclectic taste to the classroom this year" and gave me a gift card to a local book store. I'll never forget it. Anyway, all that rant to say, thanks for what you do lexicondevil. Also, I'm interested in grabbing a book if you have any left. Would you send one to Canada?
  17. Is anyone into Chef's Table? Because if you haven't seen it yet you should watch it immediately. The 2nd season just released and it's incredible! Also, I know it wasn't originally a Netflix production, but I'm a huuuuuuuge fan of Lilyhammer and very disappointed that it won't be returning. But I'm glad we managed to get three seasons of it.
  18. Not digging the single but I will buy anything these guys put out. They've been so consistent over three albums even while constantly changing up their sound. It's too bad the deluxe is $40US shipped though, otherwise I'd be all over it.
  19. This EP is faaaaaaaaantastic. Didn't realize how much I missed these guys!
  20. That is some terrible artwork but the 9 minute version of Night on the Sun is definitely worth staring at that monstrosity. If they were really worried about the artwork being too similar to M&A, they could've just used the artwork from the Japanese CD release, no? Either way, I'm happy that Glacial Pace are reissuing all these things after so long. YAY!
  21. Yup, I'll third this. They were pretty pricey but both Tired Sounds and Refinement sound great.
