  1. there are a few copies back up on amazon.ca. price isn't great, but cheaper than shipping from the UK to canada. Becoming X (Vinyl)
  2. Got mine a couple days ago but haven' spun it yet. Standard black but I did get the 7". Mine has a 9 as well, I think that's just the standard back or the label paper that you'd usually not see if it wasn't clear or had a label on the other side.
  3. My signed clear showed up, haven't had a chance to spin it though. The corners of the sleeve are a bit rough, and what happened to the "poly bag" it was supposed to come in (did anyone get one)? I was thinking it would be a heavy duty resealable bag like Thom Yorke's last album and they would sign that, not the cover... Mine just came in a typical cardboard mailer with a bit of bubble wrap, was expecting a little more protection for the cost. Hopefully it plays ok.
  4. aaaaaaand nearly $70 CAD if I ship it to a US PO box. more if I ship it here. pass
  5. Same with Vancouver. They had these bullshit presales for Amex and whatnot for a week, the second "general" tickets are supposed to go up there's nothing to get. weak AF.
  6. The Canadian economy has killed it for me, I haven't ordered anything in a couple months and with the dollar still falling I probably won't. Things were already inflated price-wise here + bad shipping rates so I would order from the US to a US post box, but now it's going to be like $45-50+ on average for a single LP, probably worse. It's going to be a bad year for buying records (or anything else, really).
  7. New pressing now available on green vinyl. So not the RSD press then? or is it gone?
  8. VNYL becomes the largest vinyl retailer as the market declines and tapes take over as the new trend. Tape racks reappear in gas stations and look exactly the same as they did in 1993.
  9. on the spacelab9 Facebook, someone asked if this was going to have a sleeved release and they replied something like "exciting news coming soon!". so if you really want this and don't want a pic disc, maybe hold off?
  10. I wish this wasn't a pic disc and wasn't a HT exclusive, I love the music on AT. I'd be a bit pissed if I bought this and it wasn't full songs and/or had noise/voiceovers from the show over the music.
  11. So I guess HT has opened some stores in canada now. The one I checked out didn't have any records at all, does anyone know if the stores should be able to get in HT pressings on request, or are they a US only thing? I tried asking one of the girls at the store, but she thought "vinyl" were toys and was completely clueless on records.
  12. Granted, its been a while since I've really "listened" to Calculating, but there was a lot on the new press (silver) that I don't remember hearing on the album. Beyond just being pretty dirty out of the sleeve, it sounded pretty good, I didn't notice any distortion, but the entire album just seemed clearer and cleaner than I remember it. It's weird, maybe it's the remaster, maybe it's my memory, but it just didn't have the aggression and punch that I recall. It sounds good, but different, to me.
  13. ahahahaha, just got the same notice, and I cancelled my order weeks ago. this release is a total clusterfuck, order the euro press or get it on tour if you can.
  14. today is pretty metal, pulled the following from my PO box this afternoon: Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity (on silver) Kowloon Walled City - Grievances (on clear red) Shining - International Blackjazz Society
  15. I replied to my invoice since the address it came from was customer support, they replied that the order was cancelled the next day and I got the refund a few days later. I still get the emails about delayed shipping though, so I don't know what's up with that.
  16. When I saw them here in Vancouver a couple weeks ago, I thought that George's performance made the show. Yes, they sounded amazing, but visually the band is boring as fuck to watch, they just stood there with no presence at all. His whole cult leader posturing schtick was entertaining, and he seemed to have command of the crowd. Without the flair, it would have been nearly pointless to actually watch them.
  17. It just so happens that my euro 180g pink copy arrived today as well, so I compared it to the pale violet deluxe I picked up at the show. All around, I'd say that the violet press is the overall winner. The pink is pretty washed out and plain looking, as everyone else has stated. It arrived in fairly good shape for a record shipped from Europe to Vancouver, no bends or creases though there is a bit of a seam split on the gatefold and the inner sleeves, and the cardstock is pretty flimsy, the edges have a couple small dents. The records themselves are fine. It's nice that it came in a resealable poly sleeve, though lighter than I usually use, and the inner sleeves have an antistatic lining, which the deluxe didn't. I did get the poster with the pink, didn't get one with the deluxe. The cover is just so flat and plain side by side with the deluxe, the heavy gatefold, the embossing and reflective ink just makes it pop in comparison. Aesthetically, everything about the deluxe violet, the artwork, the materials, the vinyl colour way, is superior. I spun Gifts for the Earth from both, and while there wasn't a huge difference, the violet copy wins again. I don't have the best system (U-Turn Orbit Plus > Radial J33 Turntable preamp/DI > Apogee Duet2 > M-Audio BX5a monitors & KRK 10s sub), but the pink seems to have a bit of harshness and sibilance that wasn't on the violet, and there was definitely surface noise and a persistent tick in the outro that I couldn't see a cause for. I'll have to give both copies a proper wash later, but none of that was present on the deluxe copy. In loud sections both copies sounded very good, but the violet was better.
  18. Yeah, I saw them last night and thought the same thing. I mean, its pretty common to have vocals too high in the mix at shows, but they were especially bad, way too up front and I just didn't like the guy's pitch and monotone rasp. The music itself was alright I guess, pretty generic, I zoned out pretty quickly, but better vocals would have improved everything. Deafheaven on the other hand, had one of the best mixes I've ever heard, everything sat right where it should be, vocals were kinda under everything like on the albums, nothing was overpowering anything else, no harsh frequencies, it was great and they were tight as hell.
  19. I picked up a copy at the show tonight, haven't had time to give it a proper going over but my initial impression is the embossed gatefold is even better looking than I was expecting. The "pale violet" vinyl is gorgeous too, more of a blue/darker purple/translucent purple splatter, I was a bit concerned because the copy they had on the merch table looked like just plain old purple and not that good. I've emailed King's Road to see if I can cancel my coke clear (translucent green?) order.
  20. damn, that looks good. I'm seeing them on tues., but I really don't need a third copy of the record. I ordered the euro pink and a coke bottle clear, but since the pink apparently isn't actually pink maybe purple is the better choice.
  21. Its crazy how tight the jacket is on this album, I have to have the gatefold completely open and flat to get either record out or in.
  22. finally received my copy from amazon today. super cheap & flimsy packing, not the usual record mailers US amazon uses, the cover is a bit bent up but the record itself is in good shape. great album, I just wish it wasn't so short and came with a download code...
  23. Not to derail the thread and talk about music, but over the last few weeks I've been told multiple times that I should be listening to Alcest if I like Deafheaven, and that they did the whole shoegaze black metal thing long before. I skimmed through their last album and it seemed pretty weak, no real comparison that I could hear. Is there anything specific I should check out from Alcest if I'm into Sunbather and New Bermuda? Plus they (Alcest) are playing here in a few days and my buddies are opening, I didn't feel like paying the cover for what I heard and was going to skip it. Are they worth seeing?
