  2. MORROW - The Quiet Earth pre-orders just dropped For those unfamiliar, Morrow is the neo-crust/d-beat band of Alex CF (he sang in Lightbearer, Fall Of Efrafa, Momentum, Archivist, and a bunch of others) US/North America via The Plague Of Man Records https://store.theplagueofmanrecords.com/album/the-quiet-earth-2 Europe via Alerta Antifascista Records https://doomrock.com/music/lp/1474/morrow-quiet-earth-2xlp-2.-versions
  3. Archivist is a six-piece atmospheric/post-metal band out of Europe, whose self-titled album was released digitally at the beginning of June. Alerta Antifascista Records is currently taking pre-orders for the CD version, with a double LP upcoming, set for a November release. They are currently looking for a US distributor (will add more details as they are released). From the label: "Archivist is an atmospheric metal band, incorporating shoegaze, blast beats, and post-rock into a mass of turbulent percussion and soaring melodies set against a tale of ecological disaster and the last recorded thoughts of the sole survivor. It is a story of human hubris, the end of the world, and the willingness of a child to accept the weight of our legacy." For the full concept of the album, as well as free streaming and free downloads, go here. Track Listing: 1. Ascension 2. Escape Velocity 3. Dreaming Under 4. Leaving Day 5. Hades 6. 5. 2xLP remastered and expanded edition of No Need to Argue is coming out. It doesn't appear to be a Plain Recordings pressing either which is a plus. You can still pick up the limited clear version from udiscover. It comes to like $24 for the record if you use code COMEBACK....and free shipping. https://shop.udiscovermusic.com/products/the-cranberries-no-need-to-argue-limited-edition-2lp Here's the description.... Expanded reissue of No Need to Argue – the second studio album by Irish alternative rock band The Cranberries. Originally released in 1994, the album was the band’s highest-selling shifting over 17 million copies worldwide and contains the band’s most successful single Zombie. The expanded 2LP features the remastered album plus three b-sides, Yesterday’s Gone and the band’s cover of the Carpenters (They long to Be) Close to You. The 2LP also includes a 5,000-word sleevenote on the history of the album written by the band’s archivist Eoin Devereux who wrote the sleevenote to the reissue of their debut album.
  6. Recent new additions at Dead Tank http://deadtankrecords.com Archivist "Construct" 2xLP Another ambitious concept album from Archivist. Construct, the six-piece’s far-reaching 10-track odyssey of atmospheric post-metal proggery designed to infiltrate your senses. Members of Fall of Efrafa, Lightbearer, and Anopheli. Cloud Rat / Crevasse split 7" Michigan's grind champions CLOUD RAT, share a new split with Dutch/German powerviolence punks CREVASSE. A more frantic side of Cloud Rat with a cover of 'Fish in a Pool' by Danish punks Electric Deads. Crevasse blend hardcore, powerviolence, d-beat, and doom for a rare breed of metallic shrapnel. Cloud Rat / Moloch split LP Witness the blessed union of Cloud Rat - the genre-bending, grind-doom-noise-punk-metal phenoms - and the UK's Moloch, who continue to be truly excellent purveyors of tense, rancid sludge forged in the grand Northern English tradition. Moloch contributes two mammoth tracks whose resolute dedication to hammering out the most distorted, decimating doom possible add an interesting balance to Cloud Rat's tendency to flit from genre to genre like extremely pissed antifascist hummingbirds. Heavy Pockets "Mopeless" LP Brand new full-length album from New Hampshire indie/pop-punk trio. Intelligent lyrics & hooks with a thoughtful message throughout, this is 90's style indie rock that, these days, has been brought back to life full force through-out DIY punk. Contemporaries like Swearin' & Potty Mouth come to mind. Hexis "Tando Ashanti" LP Unrelentingly oppressive and emotionally devastating. Black metal merging with hardcore, to create a undeniable rolling pain. Night Sins "Dancing Chrome" LP The contemporary classic darkwave band NIGHT SINS, haling from Philadelphia, have finally released their third LP and first on Funeral Party Records, Dancing Chrome. This is their first album release since 2013’s To London Or The Lake. Crisp synths, deep vocals, and a gloomy post-punk intensity rarely matched. Interlude tracks have evolved to a noisier, slightly more industrial sound. A very exciting listen. Notches "Change My Mind" 7" Grungy, catchy-as-all-hell, high energy indie/pop-punk from New Hampshire! Follow-up EP to their "High Speed Crimes" album. One of our favorite punk bands on the East Coast right now! You'll dig this shit if you're into: The Lemonheads & Sinkhole, as well as contemporaries like Witches With Dicks & The Ergs. Piss Test "LPII" LP Think about the angrier side of early Texas or SoCal punk, with a dose of the Great Pacific Northwest (where bands can’t help but sound a little bit like The Wipers). PISS TEST have also had several comparisons to Proletariat, which they weren’t really going for, but don’t complain about. Your Pest Band "Old Springhead" 2XLP Japan's best garage power-pop punkers! Your Pest Band are back and deliver 17 songs of lo-fi garage power pop rock achin' to the Rolling Stones & The Zombies, mixed with the rough edges of bands like The Jam & Husker Du. Cohesively melodic pop, laced through-out in pure rock & roll hooks.

  8. I was so super into this band for a good bit, and bought the LP+CD package, but I never listen to it anymore. Maybe I should change that. Really diverse stuff they do. You guys ever listen to Archivist? They're kinda sorta like Show Me A Dinosaur mixed with like, Rosetta maybe? All the tracks are good, I listened to the whole thing the other day, but I think track 6 is my big standout. Track 2 has a great ending, as well. Some dude from Fall of Efrafa is in this I believe. https://archivistmusic.bandcamp.com/album/archivist
  9. New and final Archivist album is coming! I've been going back and listening to the first 2 albums and I like them a lot more than I did initially, I'll have to pick them up. However, I'm wondering if you guys can comment on the sound, if you have them - it sounds like there's no bass frequencies on these albums. Very strange!
  10. I'm being a little facetious but there's something freeing about seam splits and corner bends. I spend a lot of time reading vinyl forums and browsing Discogs and the Great Quest for Vinyl Perfection can seep it's way into my subconscious as I read about people's frustrations with imperfect jackets or sleeves. It's sort of like getting your first ding on a new car; now, you can stop worrying about getting your first ding and continue with your life. "My jacket has a seam split. Phew. Now, I can just enjoy listening to this and not care about being an archivist and collector of mint memorabilia. I AM FREE."

  12. As per a posting on FB SFA grrod by Kliph (SFA archivist): "Just a head’s up: this is in no way authorized or approved by SFA. Music On Vinyl is a legitimate label and do license things properly (and do good work when given good sources to work from), but the band were unaware of the existence of this before someone tweeted Gruff a couple of hours ago. I called BMG, who also knew nothing about it and are annoyed as they’re planning to a proper deluxified remaster/reissue when the time comes. BMG are working on tracking down who licensed it (must have been someone at Sony) and what their sources are for this reissue. Best case scenario, the original plates from 2001 still exist and were used, but those were done at CD resolution (44.1/16) and not from the original tapes, as the reissue BMG are planning will be, so buy at your own risk." Given the locked grove 7" and side 3 playing inside out its probably a good bet the the original plates are being used. I'll be getting both this and the "more legit" copy anyways.

  15. I'm guessing a 2CD set as well. Like Radiator. I picked up an OP 5-6 years ago at Pitchfork Fest (for like $35 too) completing my SFA LP collection. But they did a killer job on Radiator and Kliph (ex Flaming Lips Drummer now SFA archivist) said the originals were all cut from the same master used for the CD. These, while digitally sourced, are mastered for vinyl which is awesome. can't wait for the bonus stuff.
  16. Favorite so far Kenoma...The Tides Will Prevail Need to check out Rev Peyton and The Hooten Hallers's new records...I've only listened to each one once. Archivist's Construct was amazing. The new Sam Gleaves...amazing...sadly no vinyl pressing. Pyreship Alchimia..Musa Somnium Nox...should be getting that one soon. It's been a great year for music...

  18. new Archivist! If you like Show Me a Dinosaur, Deafheaven, Ghost Bath, etc, these guys are worth a look. New one has some.... changes. Clean vocals! Track 3 is my big favorite so far. REALLY good song. https://archivistmusic.bandcamp.com/album/construct

  20. The new novel, The Secret History of Twin Peaks by Mark Frost, is officially out today. My copy came yesterday (from amazon). I've gotten a bit into it so far, it starts with Gordon Cole presenting the contents of a dossier compiled by a person only identified as The Archivist, to an FBI agent, who's name is redacted (it's not Coop). The dossier starts off with information on Lewis and Clark, and the northwest passage, and some strange goings on, and builds from there. It takes a bit before it gets into the characters from the show, but it's very interesting stuff, nonetheless... Also, to prepare you for next year, the first official interviews and small amount of footage:
  21. FFO: Archivist, Yndi Halda, Beau Navire, The Six Parts Seven, Via Fondo From Narshardaa Records: "Respire is a six-piece band from Toronto, Canada, who combine epic post-hardcore, screamo, and black metal into a very cohesive formula that drips of maturity and patience. Gravity and Grace is their debut LP - a sprawling memoir of genre-defying soundscapes, reverb-washed tremolo harmonies, cascading arpeggios, dreamlike textures and walls of distorted guitars roaring over frantic rhythms, punctuated by tormented vocals and a near-orchestral array of instruments and contributors. Themes of loss, addiction, heartbreak, and existential anguish paint a bleak picture, but somewhere over the horizon rests a glimmering sense of hope, resolve and forgiveness." Co-released on vinyl through Narshardaa Records (EU), Zegema Beach Records (CA), and Ozona Records (USA). Pressing Info: 100 Black, 200 White Bandcamp stream

  23. The EU variant is still available. Only on I didn't grab, but that's because it was either that or the fall of Efrafa - Inle and Archivist - ST, and I already got the 3 other variants. However, I still might do it, but I want the Pg.Lost represses................... fuck these decisions.
