toxicity
I once bought something on Discogs that I'd been looking for forever. The dude happened to live less than 3 blocks away from me. I paid too much for it, but at least I didn't have to pay shipping, so I considered it a deal. kamalatapes
I once sold something to someone who lived 16 miles up from me. I still shipped it because I didn't have time to drive up there. But for 250 gifted! I'd drive their way. Shipping is like what? 3.43$ that's almost a gallon of gas, the price it'd be for you sit in your car to drive it to him lol. I'd actually freakin' ask to meet up because dropping it off would be nuts too.

abovetheearth
I was thinking of showing up on their doorstep and telling them I flew in from San Francisco or something because that's how good customer service is at Out of Breath Records you should run. and hand it too him panting and breathing heavy from running..making the "Out of Breath" records more believable. cbbrew22, codeine, corey. and 1 other

jerseydave77
I wouldn't hand deliver at $250 item unless it was in person. Delivery confirmation and a buck for insurance is all you have to protect yourself. The gift thing is a bit of a misnomer with Paypal. marc32137
I bought a DVD off eBay when I was in college and when it arrived the return address was my college campus. It turned out to be my roommate's advisor. I was really tempted to go to his office and leave it on his chair or something but I chickened out. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
so I've had a copy of Hymns - Teen Suicide /30 lathe on discogs for a while just chilling at $300 just because I've spent so much money on my very ery near complete collection of TS stuff, and need money for my label, and I have 2 copies of this lathe. so last night someone messaged me that they would like to buy it for $250, and I said sure, but they had like no feedback, so I asked them to gift me the payment because I was kind of sketch about sending a $250 record through the mail. They also sent me their address. They paid. THEY LIVE 6 MILES AWAY FROM ME WTF
TheGhostOfRandySavage
Someone could still make a claim even after sending payment as a gift? I don't think that's true... Sending payment as a gift makes you say you're not paying for items or services.

Yeah, I'm meeting them in person to deliver the record at their house. At least if they chargeback that $250, I can egg it or something. parkinglot
Also, just curious, this is a question for the board. If a random person who is not a member on VC messaged you on DF or discogs, offering you $200 for a record that you only valued at $100, would you accept the offer or tell them they could have it for $100 or maybe $150? I've actually had this happen before, but on a slightly smaller scale. Some guy on DF offered me something like $40 for my splatter copy of The Graduate - Anhedonia sometime last year, and I told him it was his for $25ppd. But if it was something like this, like a $100 markup on what I thought it was worth, I'd knock like $10 off to $190 and ship it straight away. Gotta live and let live. They pay less than what they hoped to pay and you make more than you thought you would. Everyone feels good (until the other guy maybe decides he overpaid). codeine
