I'm really surprised the grey sounds so good compared to the rest; some friends and I snagged the peach tour variant and agree that it's one of the worst sounding pressings we've heard.  Haven't chatted with anyone who's picked up a black copy, prior to McPherson, but I always assumed they would've sounded better.  I guess I was misinformed and grey-marble is the way to go, for whatever reason.

I'll have to listen again soon, but I don't remember my peach copy sounding bad.

Also, what is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?  (sorry, that's what I thought of when I saw this)

I don't get the reference if there is one there but I am imagining it comes from something that is Monty Python in nature.

EDIT: Just googled. Turns out I was right. I really haven't seen most of their work.

Got my new copy and listened front to back. There is definitely still some silibance but nowhere near how bad my other copy was. Its not on every "s" but its on most of them and the intensity of the distortion is much lower overall when it does happen. I can live with it especially at $17 before shipping.
