sogross
Moving a fairly large collection in a couple of weeks and wanted to get some ideas and suggestions on how to do so. Forgive me if this topic already exists.
monsterrod
There are several threads dedicated to this topic. U-Haul has perfectly sized boxes that I've used in several big moves.
zeb_enjoys_vinyl
i think someone put mailing tape on their shelves and moved the whole thing once.. so that should work

74R
I used to steal milk crates from behind grocery stores. I'm not sure if that's possible any more. You can also steal those bins the post office employees use to carry mail in. They work really well. I have no legal suggestions. spaceghost

As far as legal suggestions go I'd suggest a lawyer. niblips

andynz
Lift with your knees, not your back! This. Also. I just did a move. I found some sturdy boxes that were around 12x12x14. They fit basically one cube of an expedit. Packed the extra space in the box with t-shirts. Done.

Klefki
Just did this. Ordered some of these: http://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-4615/Corrugated-Boxes-200-Test/12-3-4-x-12-3-4-x-13-1-2-Corrugated-Boxes When I put the records in placed one of the record fillers on each of the four sides, and only stacked these boxes on top of each other. Everything came out okay for me. Best of luck with your move!
steventangent
I went to my local record store, and the owner gave me a bunch of the boxes he receives orders in. That's about as good as I could have hoped for.

radiatorhums
i think someone put mailing tape on their shelves and moved the whole thing once.. so that should work I think they used plastic wrap first. Not a bad idea honestly. Depends on what kind of move you're doing too. If it's an in city move, then put records in boxes and go. Don't fret it too much. I did my last move with two milk crates. Took quite a few trips, but I didn't really worry about it. Don't know what to tell you if it's a cross country move or something.
markok
I have done my fair share of dirty work in the past, but moving even a collection of 1000 was definitely up there with the hardest of them. Moving a piano would have been a lot easier.
derby625
I paid people this time when Iobes which included moving all my boxes of records. Totally with the dollars
Nucleus Sests
I just moved across the country. We drove a truck and a car. The only things that went in the car were my records and my cat for the air conditioning.

nardes
I lined crates (can get them for a couple bucks at walmart/target) with bubble wrap and put the records in. Be careful they don't get too heavy to lift and/or too heavy that the crate breaks. I kept them in the backseat/trunk of my car so I didn't have to worry about the heat... I just put a black blanket across the top so a bunch of crates didn't stand out.

derby625
The boxes from office max are durable and last multiple moves. I've moved my 2000+ collection from Minnesota to New York to Florida with only a few minor corner bends. Any expensive/sentimental records take in your car.
