i dropped a couple hundred on some AM! test presses from Var...but it doesnt bother me as at least then i know its going to label who puts out records i love... and ive definitely sold higher than anything i bought.

of course i just dropped like $8,000 pressing a record this year already, so wants a $100 here or there

Hundreds. Majosha - Shut Up and Listen to Majosha.

damn, i think i've only seen one on ebay ever. though i don't really check for folds vinyl much any more... how much did you pay?

$225 - lawrence arms - oh calcutta (blue) + apathy (green)

$130 - lawrence arms - greatest story (maroon)

$121 - ryan adams - love is hell

$125 - the finger - we are fuck you (red)

i bought the lawrence arms records like 4-5 years ago, when i was in high school, had a job, and had nothing to spend my money on. that's the extent of paying big bucks for used vinyl. this isn't including box sets or special editions (stuff around $100, usually)

300 smackers, but its in great shape. Such a sweet album to have.

It's funny because I have a ton of holes in my Folds collection, but he is one of those artists that really marked a change in my whole thinking about music at a young age (him and the Presidents of the USA).

it's weird when I see peoples' big buys be records that came out in the last five years. Records (in general) depreciate in value. It's cheaper to wait it out on most new high dollar records. There are obviously a lot of records that go up a lot over the years, but almost every record goes down in value.

I spent over a hundred on Minor Threat "In My Eyes", but I've sold a lot of records for over $100 so I don't feel bad about it. Plus it's a classic, not some flavor of the week.

Great post...especially the MT. +1

I am guilty of dropping $160 on some Boris stuff (Japanese pressings) a few years ago, but I have since learned my lesson...yet I did cough up the nearly $100 for the 2 new albums haha.

Edit: I also spent like $112 on a first press Let's BBQ by AOD.

I'm with you on that. So bizarre.

I've had some classic HC records come and go through my collection that I've dropped $100 on. I think the most was $150 for a sealed copy of Youth Of Today "Break Down The Walls" on Wishing Well. Pretty decent for a record that was 24 years old and hadn't been played ever. Worth every cent.

$120 USD PPD for the Samuel Jackson 5 box set on orange vinyl (60 of it was for shipping so I don't even know if that number counts). I do not regret that purchase. Other than that, I spent 35PPD on the banned cover of "Appetite For Destruction" and that's about it. It's rare that I can justify spending over $25 on a record.

yeah, despite the 3 i mentioned earlier, i very very rarely spend over $20 on one thing. the only exceptions, really, are albums that cost about $25 retail- and even that is usually pushing it.

and i just realized, i forgot to mention spending $75 on the black devil&god copy. still not thrilled about that one.

Man i can remember every record I spent $50 plus on. I usually only go for it if it's a great deal.:

Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie original numbered press - $100

Modest Mouse - Lonesome Crowded West - $100

Modest Mouse - Long Drive - $50

Bad Religion - 1st 7" 1st press - $50

I've also gotten allot of $50+ LP's on the cheap through cratedigging and looking on ebay during work.

I'd bet money that FSF-The Moon is Down will have a repress in the next couple of months.

i would like to see you correct. i am hoping this year is going to be a big year for overdue represses. this, old modest mouse, highly refined pirates, mineral. i have heard unconfirmed speculation on all of these, except highly refined pirates. that is confirmed. :)
