rudeboydh
I'm just wondering, how much does getting a record signed increase the value? What are your general opinions on this? Personally, I think that if the artist is dead, or the band is broken up, it makes the signed record considerably more valuable. I'm just wondering cause I have a signed record that I'm considering selling.
The Vool
Do you, by any coincidence, have signed (& mint) records of Hendrix & the Beatles? If so, contact me! somethingvinyl
rudeboydh
haha...no I wish. In my case, it probably doesn't make the record any more valuable. I've got Left Alone s/t signed by Elvis Cortez. I'm just kinda wondering overall if that's something that people pay a little bit more for. joshua
totally depending on the buyers market. i know collectors who hate having any writing on their sleeves, then there's folks who love it and willing to pay extra. personally i don't give too much about signatures. i like it when it's done stylish. once found a record which had a signed inner sleeve. not too frontal but still a proof that the creator held this copy in his hands. (which is the only extra value i see in it).
yarostino
personally, i enjoy getting stuff signed... but id never pay extra for a signatur. its not really the scribbling itself but the memory of it that matters. taylo234
apirk
I've gotten a few records signed but would never buy a signed record, too easy to fake. ketchupnmustud
Veltar
I don't see the appeal of getting a signature on my record, it kind of ruins the artwork with no added value (to me).
Emo Revival
personally, i enjoy getting stuff signed... but id never pay extra for a signatur. its not really the scribbling itself but the memory of it that matters. This, everything I have signed has a cool memory attached to it, that A wont mean shit to anyone else, and B it wouldn't matter to me if I bought someone else's signed records because I wouldn't have the memory of getting it. gabpower
jhulud
If you're more concerned about the value of a record with or without signatures than the music and art, then you're doing it wrong. hudsoncomplex
We got people at our wedding to sign used records as the guest registry. They turned out pretty cool, so I ended up framing them and putting them on the wall in our family room
timbrh2001
I won a contest for the latest Liars album signed by the entire band. One of the band members also doodled a sketch on it as well.
Werner Herzog
I agree with Yaro and Woe, getting a record signed at a show is one thing, but going out of your way to buy an autographed record is another. I don't have many signed records, but the ones that I do have were signed when I met them.
moonbeams
For me it decreases the value. I don't like scribble on the sleeves, especially if it's made out to "Bob" or someone. Given a choice, I would purchased an unsigned copy.

This is how I feel about my Bright Eyes - TPK "Hunt for the Key Promo" /50. It's signed and one of my favorite bands.....but it's not like a I met the 3 of them personally :/ Speaking of sigs decreasing the value, who was it that had the new Alk3 sign the old Sundials 7"? that was pretty funny
afireinside7444
We bought our as tall as lions s/t pink at a show that was signed. One of our first shows together. Whish I woulda got the blu too......
wasteland76
i personally love signed records - if i get a chance to meet an artist or band - i'll make sure they sign the record- but thats me. Its part of the experience of meeting them. would i pay more for one though - no. its not a real then to me
roadmonkey
I got Mastodon to sign my remission test press.. I think at this point the value has increased
IanRees
I wouldn't think a Left Alone album signed by Elvis is that valuable because it's pretty easy to get him to sign stuff.
sjb2k1
i wouldn't be interested in buying something that was autographed to/for someone else. but i mean if i really wanted a copy of that record then i guess whatever. but LOL to the autographed records that appear on ebay, $1000 for a signed copy of dcfc Plans, $600+ for in keeping secrets

somethingvinyl
I've never been one to ask for an autograph. But something that meant a lot to was a note I got from Futher Seems Forever. I was active in the street team of FSF in 2001/02 and they sent everyone little cards just saying thanks and they all signed it. Had it on my wall for years. Meant the world to me that one of my favorite bands took the time to say thanks.

warhenrecords
I work at a venue and definitely get my records/prints/CDs signed if I can. Don't really care about the value, because to me it's priceless. Makes me remember the time I got to meet, hang out, and work with that band/artist for a day. Would never pay more for a signed record.
