RSD 2013: Tell your stories and share what you bought here!

Recommended Posts

My biggest surprise, was the Vitamin String Quartet tribute to Sigur Ros! Bought on a whim and just listened, it's beautiful!!! Gonna use it in my wedding!!!!

I don't know if I regret spending $425 today! Yikes.... Gonna be hurting for month of May

I spent almost $700 last year for RSD (to be fair, I bought a Pro-Ject Debut III) so I decided to take it easy this year. Hoping to score that Sigur Ros tribute later today when I head out to my local shop.

They had a copy at CFBG in Greensboro, but it was gone first thing this morning. I did order a copy of the ( ) repress from the uk, and it got here today, woo!

another person from Greensboro!

The guy who got it was just behind me in line and that was the only copy they got I believe. What'd you end up picking up?

Well I've had a terrific day,  and my faith in RSD is fully restored.

The last 2 years have been fruitless efforts, usually ending in me coming home angry with no records and a speeding ticket.

Today we hit 2 shops in 2 different cities,  and managed to snag the 3 records that I really wanted.  We went to Spillers, Cardiff (Oldest record shop in the world) and Diverse in Newport.   Took the baby with us,  had great weather here and we generally had a nice day out.   So top day all round.

Managed to get the 2x Death Waltz 12",  and the Mad Season 2xLP.

Oh, and NO queues.   B)

I went to Amoeba Berkeley, and only managed to get 1/4 of what I wanted.

What I wanted:

1. The White Stripes - Elephant

2. Surfer Blood - Demon Dance

3. Black Keys/Stooges - No Fun

4. MGMT - Alien Days (cassette)

I ended up only getting the MGMT cassette, because Amoeba sold out of Elephant and Black Keys, and they didn't get the Surfer Blood 7' in. I'm pretty dissapointed that the release that I wanted the least was the only that I could get.

Do you guys think that the Elephant LPs will be available online for a reasonable price? I have the original 2003 press (disc 1 is on white disc 2 on red), so I wouldn't be that bad if I didn't get this pressing.

Went to one store and got a handful of stuff that I kinda wanted, but none of my RSD "needs". Went to a second store with a buddy of mine and left empty handed. His card got declined so I had to help him out, and then proceeded to spend all of the cash he gave me after paying me back at the first record store haha. Ended up with

All That Remains - The Fall of Ideals

Dio/Killswitch Engage - Holy Diver 7"

My Bloody Valentine - m b v

Panopticon - Social Disservices

and picked up The Greenhornes LP for dreamover

Still looking for BTBAM - The Anatomy Of

Had to work today so I waited outside of The Exchange location in Pittsburgh on the same block as my job at 730 this morning, first in line. I was looking for Elephant and the Manchester Orchestra split. They opened at 10 and had a small selection, not including either releases. I picked up the Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr EP and trudged to work with a frown. Grumbled through work like a two year-old and decided after my shift that I'd take the DA Jr Jr EP back since I didn't really want it. I show up and they just received their 2nd shipment. They set it out; 3 LPs and a 7 inch. Elephant was one of the 3 and I giggled like a school girl as I grabbed it and returned the aforementioned EP.

Overall, a pretty successful first RSD!
