Team Avatar
saw the midnight premiere. I'm not much of a movie critic, and I found it incredibly entertaining and cannot wait for next year!
futures
Ah I can't wait to see it!! I think I'm going tomorrow. I just love the feeling I get when it's time to see a new one of these movies (LOTR included). They're always so fun. Plus, I have a crush on Martin Freeman so that's an added bonus for me with the Hobbit trilogy, lol.

jerseydave77
I thought the first one was awful - huge misstep. Loved the original trilogy. So: will this one appeal to me?
stl_ben
Saw it earlier this week at a screening....SO GOOD. Only down side, another year till we can see the final part.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I thought the first one was awful - huge misstep. Loved the original trilogy. So: will this one appeal to me? I definitely did not like the first one as much as any of the LOTR movies, there was far to much CGI in it for me to like, it was far more noticeable in the first hobbit movie than any of the LOTR movies IMO. really hesitant to see the second one because the commercials/trailers look as CGI'd as the first movie
stl_ben
Sorry about all the CGI they couldn't get the dragon they really wanted so had to go with a motion capture instead..... Brevity38, codeine, 000000 and 1 other
futures
It was too expensive to film the trilogy in actual Middle Earth, so they went with New Zealand and some green screens. Brevity38, codeine and deafening

parkinglot
was there a hobbit 2 book? i mean i remember reading the hobbit and watching the old cartoon movie but didn't realize there was a 2. They just split the movie up so it's not 9 hours long. Anyways, these are the only movies I get excited about. So stoked to see it!

batman
I thought the first one was awful - huge misstep. Loved the original trilogy. So: will this one appeal to me? i went back and watched the first one again and realized that i was overly critical of it on first watch. i'll probably go see the 2nd one either this weekend or next. not sure if this helps or not, but according to RT: an unexpected journey: 65%, avg score 6.6 the desolation of smaug: 74% avg score 6.8 if you absolutely hated the first one, i wouldn't expect something drastically different. Team Avatar
I don't understand how anyone can hate the first one. Compared to LOTR, it seems a bit more comical and maybe juvenile, but that is how the book was written! There is a reason that most people read the hobbit years before LOTR. In the first one, the goblin scene is flawless - and there is a similar scene in TDOS which rules too. ahhhh I can't wait to go see it again! paintedinexile
Movie was fucking awesome! Want to go see it again. Leaps and bounds better than the first, and I enjoyed the first part.

swisherprice
Just got out of seeing it in IMAX 3D at the high frame rate, and even though most scenes looked like a cutscene from a video game, I really enjoyed it.

michaelmanfredi
Saw the midnight premiere and thought it was fucking amazing. The smaug scene was unbelievable. Such a big cliffhanger tho. I agree with the person saying it was written in a comical way. The hobbit was kind of a children's book compared to lotr.
