jonnywreck
I guess I now know why Andy went back to school after getting sick of Newbury Comics. xadamhudsonx and Dicky Greenleaf
just a normal guy kevin
It's really weird how Newbury hasn't repressed any John Vanderslice, Kind of Like Spitting, Nada Surf, or Ted Leo records. Is my early 2000s nostalgia not worth anything?

mrrom92
yeah, jazz records on coloured vinyl just seems weird. Solid album regardless. I suppose you don't have any jazz albums on Fantasy or Aladdin or other jazz labels who put out pretty much everything with different colored variants

vinyl addict
I have a lot of the NC exclusive colored LPs. For the most part, they sound fantastic.
xadamhudsonx
I have a lot of the NC exclusive colored LPs. For the most part, they sound fantastic. We are not debating their quality as much as Newburys choice of reissuing albums that are readily available elsewhere for half the cost (or more) that Newbury is charging for them, then when they are close to selling out taking the remaining copies and tripling the price. vinyl addict
LOL, my local NC wants $55 for the Hendrix 200 gram. I got it for $25 new. I also saw Nirvana- Bleach (clear/white) for $70!!!...I own that one too but again, bought it when it was first released. I don't mind paying the $25 for most of the albums, but some are ridiculous...$40 for Sublime?

What you take issue with is their pricing... Newbury does not reissue anything.
erretter
does anyone know already what nick cave reissuess exclusives newbury will release?

The "Newbury exclusives" work just like Hot Topic exclusives. They get the label to reissue and buy the entire stock to resell themselves... at their own inflated pricing. sunkilmoonfan
I know this thread is a whole lot of Newbury Comics hate... so I'd like to join in. WTF, they charge minimum of $30 for a record, then ship it in a regular-ol-mailer and not AT THE VERY LEAST an oversize amazon-style mailer?? It blows my mind that anybody uses those regular mailers anymore, especially at their price point. Why the bitching? Because I paid over $30 for the new B&S and it came looking like shit. First and last time ordering any of these exclusives.
southern
"Axis: Bold as Love" is up on 200-gram (!) orange vinyl. Couldn't resist - my favorite Jimi album.

Their Are you Experienced was great, so I need this. Too bad it isnt Orange / Magenta though.

ChardeeMacDennis
Ordered. 2500 is a lot more than the last Jimi newburry release so these shouldn't sell out too quickly
pizza face
Hopefully I can find this in store when it releases. Sounds like there will be a lot. Sucks this will be in mono and not Stereo..I already have a mono version :/
Willow_Tree_Records
Not sure if this is common knowledge, but someone who works at Newbury said there are boxes of each release put aside so they can do a "warehouse find" or something down the road (and probably charge a lot more)

vinyl addict
Im going to wait and grab it i the store. Ive preordered 3 albums through NC, and they are always damaged. Especially the last 200 gram JH album. The spine was split and 2 corners were bad. And you cant return it in the store. I can always find them in the store after the release. mrrom92
There were reported sound issues with the last round of mono Hendrix. Jusy something to beware of. But here's to hoping Electric Ladyland is next!
vinyl addict
Yeah, mine is not the mono though. Its the stereo of AYE 200 gram on "Purple Haze" color vinyl. I picked up the Sublime on white for a great deal a couple days ago as well. I already owned the LP, but this was too good of a deal to pass up.
