idreamofpunk
I will now proceed to buy anything Against Me related that I don't' already have. New, so that some of the money goes to Laura. And y'know, I hope they tour. (meaning, I hope the tour with the Cult is still on.)

GradedOnACurve
Didn't see this one coming but I hope he finds peace now. This. Seems like a conflicted person. Doesn't make me give a shit about Against Me! any more or less though.
alfred
Whoa. Didn't see that coming at all, actually.
kriss
Total respect. Trans folks are every bit as complete as any cis-gendered person, I hope that his fanbase is acceptant.

jerseydave77
When Keith Caputo of Life of Agony came out that he was transitioning to Mina she got a ton of shit. I'm hoping the punk world will be more open minded than the metal scene.

idreamofpunk
Also, for the love of God, the sex reassignment surgery (which is what is commonly referred to as the "sex change" that people undergo) comes much further down the line, usually after years of transitioning toward the gender. As of now, he's transitioning (undergoing hormone replacement therapy, and other physical changes). the sex reassignment surgery is the end of the journey (aside from regular hormone replacement therapy at an "upkeep" level). I knew that with someone like Laura being public with this now, everyone is going to have their pronouns stuck in the past, get their terms all fucked up, and it's just going to bug the hell out of me. This shit isn't easy for anyone, especially someone with such a fickle following that they left her when she signed to fucking NO IDEA because it was "A label" (so my friend said). But I'm happy for her, and really truly hope she's able to continue making music the way she wants to. Owning her own label will probably help a great deal with that. Shitty Rambo
I'm actually excited to see what AM! does next. I imagine Laura's new found freedom will affect their music positively.
idreamofpunk
wtf im supposed to see against me this summer.. does he keep the voice? the hormones are going to fuck him up. this is just too weird for me. The hormones don't alter the voice. It'd be a lot easier for trans people to get by in the world if they did. no, it takes a lot of vocal training, and sometimes surgery (to merely raise the low end of the vocal chords, not necessarily create a feminine tone in your range). This does raise the question of what is going to happen with the opening spot on the tour AM! is doing with The Cult, but I wasn't going to that anyway because of the venue in Chicago. I'd love to see her just come out and do their set like they'd always do it, 'cause honestly, that'd be the most punk thing AM! could do. mcm1610
Wow, kinda crazy, but it's cool that he's willing to put himself right out there and knows it'll be awkward and uncomfortable. Inspiring, I suppose.
