I've called my usual stores and none have it and have no clue what I'm talking about when I ask about it. Almost no vinyl sold through HT is in store/online only. With only 500 copies they likely just didn't have enough to go around. If you ask nicely maybe Travis will bless you with a store list. Or just go ahead and buy it online while it's still up. shenanigans Posted September 29, 2015 Share Posted September 29, 2015 It used to work on vinyl. But people who didn't earn Hot Cash were using it on buying a bunch of records. That's why they had to end that. If they offered single use Hot Cash codes, they could bring back vinyl into the deal. Remember: to actually get Hot Cash, you need to spend money at Hot Topic. So they're not straight taking 50% off of a record. You still have to spend a lot to get that deal. At the complete best case, it's only really 25% off, and that's only if you hit exactly $30 initially to get the Hot Cash, and then hit exactly $30 when you spend it, which is almost impossible. Hot Topic was losing a lot of money because people who didn't actually earn Hot Cash were using it on items that already have very low margins. It's been a long while since I've really bought any records from hot topic. If I remember correctly they removed vinyl because a certain ebay reseller was basically buying the entire vinyl section at half off and putting them on ebay at full price. When this all went down I sent customer service an email letting them know that I only bought records there and they told me that I could call the 800 number or take the actual coupon into the store during the hot cash sale and they would allow me to use it on records as long as I wasn't buying more than 1 of any given record. That's almost what we get from eBates. At least eBates gives us cash money. I think we'll all miss the 15% off but I don't think it helped that half of the newer users were posting the promo code just to get one or two up votes.
