cwhitmuzik
The biggest change between the books and the show is the show has a lot less accent on the history aspect, which will come back and bite the show in the ass come season 4 and season 5 (depending on how they split up the next few books). It'll be interesting to see the adjustments then. Also, the Ser Dontos thing from the most recent episode actually happened early book 2. They're condensing that big time. cwhitmuzik
Also, I started reading the books after season three. It's interesting to be on a different side of the viewing spectrum this time around.
xadamhudsonx
I liked the little Easter Egg for those that have read the other George RR Martin GOT short stories, Jamie and Joffre namedropping Ser Duncan The Tall.
cwhitmuzik
Was sort of bummed that TPaTQ doesn't have a kindle version, tried to find it last night.
dave_jones
Also the lack o fa lot of the introspective dialogue takes away from the characters in the show. But for the most part, it's been pretty close story-wise.

cwhitmuzik
Another big thing about the show is that since there is no narration, some of the historical aspect has to be done and it's usually done via "sexposition." hence a lot of sex scenes that aren't in the books. although that Oberyn Martell one was creepily awesome. dave_jones
Also the whole dream sequence after Ned gets stabbed through the leg was cut out, so we don't really know much about Ser Arthur Dayne and company, or have the back story of Ned's sister and Rhagar. Team Avatar
I don't think the movies and book follow close at all, besides the major events. Since i'm re-reading as we speak, everything seems out of order, and so many of the best quotes from the movies aren't in the books at all. timbrh2001
I wish I could have experienced that without knowing it was coming. Best death ever. Every episode this season has been/is going to be amazing. That's why I refuse to read the books. Don't want them to spoil this show for me because it's some of the best TV going on right now.
