numanoid
I've got a question... Where did the "I" in "vnyl" go?? Even it didn't want to take part in this nonsense, I assume?
TheBurningEar
** fuck it I'll bite.. some questions for you about your service. a. how many artists do you have lined up? over 30 so you don't get repeating artists on each LP? b. with backups at plants how do you expect to put out three mixed LPs in three months, when established labels have to wait somewhere more than 3 to 5 months. c. what's your return policy? d. can you tell me some of the artists that will be featured on the first mixed Vinyl Moon LP? e. Do you know NIck Alt? is he your friend? Great Qs. I'll bite back a. So far about 35 with signed contracts. Another 10 or 15 in the works. I don't plan on ever repeating an artist. Maybe in special cases but unlikely. b. Like a label with multiple releases going on, I have to start really early. Its all about staying 4 months ahead of release schedule and working with the best people in the industry so the inevitable delays are minimized. c. Thats a great question. Defective or damaged records we will replace. Unwanted records can be returned as long as everything is intact and in good condition. These are all limited runs so we would happily give them a loving home. d. I can but I wont. Honestly, that is only because I really believe in the joy that comes from hearing music for the first time on your turntable. You might even know some of the bands from music blogs or being on the Hype Machine charts. These aren't bands that I found at my local high school talent show. Some are on labels. Some are unsigned. Some are in the middle of some major negotiations. Etc. e. No, I absolutely do not. And I've been waiting for someone to ask because all the similarities are there. We both live in Los Angeles, we both started a vinyl project on Kickstarter (although Vinyl Moon was in the works 5 months before VYNL launched), we are similar ages (I think), and we both have ties to Venice, CA. (Except that I grew up there, he just opened a record store there) We actually changed the whole Vinyl Moon launch strategy after the VYNL sh*t hit the fan just so we could avoid any comparisons or correlations. (If there is a way to private message here then I can tell you a weird story actually)

aarondltd
They really box their shipments that well? That is pretty surprising if thats true.
DecayToDeath
They really box their shipments that well? That is pretty surprising if thats true. We haven't seen the inside...it could have no extra padding. 3 thin, worn out dollar bin LPs in a box that size wouldn't exactly stuff it. Yeah but even what we see in this picture is surprising to me. I would expect Jiffy padded envelopes to be fine for what they are shipping. just a normal guy kevin
You guys haven't learned yet. It is zero surprise that they'd pour time and effort into the box that the records ship in. I imagine they got samples of 10-15 different mailers from a packaging company and picked an expensive one that looks really cool and professional. I also bet that the print quality of the #vibe stickers are up there. Literally everything EXCEPT the records themselves has been meticulously put together with a ton of thought. That's why it's frustrating. Because it's a symptom of a much larger problem of companies spending money and effort to build the illusion of a product, and it's accompanying lifestyle and brand, rather than delivering an actual solid product- and the fact that some people are actually OK with crap if the surrounding illusion is cool, trendy, and cute. Started reading thinking it was a satirical post, but once I got here: "Literally everything EXCEPT the records themselves has been meticulously put together with a ton of thought. I have had this figured out when I saw pics of people unboxing their first packs. Great packing, cool #vibe stickers, sheet with a note and $1 records. What do people do with all the shit that comes in a Nerd Block that isn't the shirt and the POP! figure? Okay back to the jokes, sorry guys!
